If you're playing a network or modem game then only one out of every three
players needs a cd-rom with a WCII cd in it. Just copy the war2 directory
from one machine to the others. I've played on non-cd machines this way.
* Yes, I know this doesn't answer your question but some people out there
will want to know this. *

Do in the following way :
1. copy all the files into some directory e.g. cdrom
2. create the batch file shown below:
label xxx (change into your driver D(cdrom) and type label
you will get it).
subst P: cdrom
cdemu2.com p:
xxx.exe (the oringal exe file)
cdemu2.com /u
subst p: /d
and that's done.
Y.Z.
You need to get the file cdemu2.com which is an cdrom
emulator.

Yes....You need a crack called Wc2pcrk.zip...I'll try to attach it
Here is a comment: GO BUY THE GAME! Why would you need to copy the CD
otherwise?

Hell, you can have one CD per 6 players, or whatever the max is.
1) Install WC2 on all computers.
2) Put the CD in one machine, run WC2 and start a game.
3) Take the CD out, put it in another machine and start WC2 from that machine.
4) Have the second machine join the game.
5) WC2 now thinks you have two CDs.
6) Repeat to taste.
EASY AS CAKE BABY!!!

PS - Yes I've played 5 player game with one CD and it worked. Consistantly.
Well I woouldn't mind doing it if it would fit on a Zip disk. I work
on the weekends every six weeks and the computer where I work doesn't
have a CDROM. Taking my ZIP drive to work to play games is something
I do to all the time to relieve the boredom of 'working.'

Its easy if all the computers have CD-roms, but what if none of the
computers in a network have CD-roms? I love the game, have my own
registered copy. I'd like to know how to emulate a CD-rom so that me
and my friends can play network games. The only problem is that the
only networks available to us are university computer labs that only
have diskdrives. It's no poblem getting the game onto the computers,
and of course we always erase the game afterwards so that it is not
distributed to others, the problem is in getting the programs to work.
Anyway, where is it that people have 5 or 6 computers networked
together with CD-roms?
Are you just rich, or am missing out on how to find such a valuable
resource?

Hi,
Could you tell me how big is that directory? I am a diehard fan of
warcraft I and would like to get my hand on warcraft ][.
Unfortunately, I don't have a CD ROM, it's kind of expensive for
laptop. So, if it does not take much space on my hard disk, I plan to
get the CD, then transfer the content to my harddrive through school's
computer.
Thank you in advance.
Greetings Aki.

For example, my computer at home has a single speed CD-ROM drive
... If you think I'm going to spend the extra money so I can play this
game, you're kidding me ... Don't assume everyone is a pirate. You're
going to be wrong every so often ...
I got the game working without the CD by just changing the cdrom
path variable in war2.ini to the directory you put warcraft 2 in ...
i.e., if I installed it in c:\games\war2, i would change the variable to
"\games\war2" ...

No, you don't copy the whole CD, just the portion of it that installs.
You only copy the installed directory from the other guy's computer (or,
if you have the CD, install it yourself).

I also have one of those ancient single speed drives and am
considering buying WCr2. Can someone tell me how much room needed on
the HD to copy the game. Can you leave out the cut scenes. What
about the CD music?
Thanks

I tried that crack, it KINDA works... Its very inconsistent, sometimes
Warcraft works like a charm, sometimes it doesn't work with a damn,
crashes left right and center.
Obeservations of this crack(mind you it beats having the CD in the
drive all the time).
You lose all Digital Voice in the prolouges to a chapter
You can't load a saved game from the main menu, you have to start the
first episode then load the saved game.
Again, its better than nothing....
BECAUSE asshole, I shouldnt have to put a damn cd in to play a game
that doesnt even USE a cd. That is no different than that "key disk"
floppy disk protection shit that it took us forever to get away from.

Thank for the person who send me the fakecd10.zip. Warcraft2 is only
fooled by
1) copy the entire files from the cd into the harddisk(about 90M)
you may not to copy the demo directory.
2) then run the fakecd
3) install warcraft2 from the copy that is in the harddisk
(the whole thing takes about 120M harddisk space.) (other method
does not work, I have tried)

Warcraft 2 has both CD Audio & MIDI music.
There is an option in the game, on the sound dialog, to select between
the two.
You can also set it in the WAR2.INI file. Look for the line:
cdaudio=
Where can I get a copy of fakecd10.zip?

The music is still there. It is MIDI based. There might be a
music track on the CD as well, but I didn't look.

How do you do this? Do you use the DOS edit command? Would that trick
work with a Windows game like Civnet (a game that we don't want to
buy four copies of)
