Only a quick check so far but that is COOL.
For anyone who knows what M.U.L.E. was this is very worth checking out.
BTW, my ISP just put up a server (local users only so far Im afraid) that
has a bunch of the old BBS ansi games on it like TradeWars and Wasteland
Gandalf Parker
How is it? For those who loved the original, how does it compare? I
know I know, be my own judge, and I will when I get some time later in
the week, but wondering what everyones first impression is?
If well done it could be awesome.
I'm underwhelmed, mostly for UI reasons ... the game interface is tiny
and doesn't scale up, which means I can't see jack-shit. It might work
in fullscreen mode on a vga monitor, I don't know. It sort of gets lost
in amongst the desktop icons on my screen.
If there is any documentation, then I failed to find it in the program
folder (F1 certainly does nothing), I played - no, make that: I
attempted to play one game in training mode, which timed out and timed
out while I was peering in vain at the screen trying to figure out what
the hell was supposed to be what and where and which .... Meh, I
thought, and killed the process. I expect I'll recover the hd space some
time.
Seriously can't be bothered to mess around with an ugly little app like
this, trying to figure out how it's supposed to be worked. If you could
slow it down, if there were any docs or tooltips one could switch on for
training mode, if you could scale it up to a useful/visible size, if
only, if ... it could be awesome.
-P.
Yes, I tried it out today. The big mistake is they wrote it in Java,
the last language anyone should look at if they want a nice UI.
I tried to join tonight... it did some kind of shitty java update then
told me to open a port. Dan Bunten cut his dick off and died for this
shit? I doubt thats what he had in mind.
