I was wondering if any IG2 players might be able to give me any tips on how
to raise money? Every time I raise my taxes, my population drops. I've added
a trade center, bank, and trade port but the amount of traders who do make a trip
to my planets aren't even paying off what I put down to have the buildings
built in the first place! I've seen the screen shot on the IG2 web page and I
can't believe they were able to get to 21 million credits within two years without
a hex editor. :P
Thanks,
Wayne

Disagree. 10 fighters doesn't do much, but several thousand is another tale
:) Beside I guess you can call fighters for cannon foodders as well.
Majority of my fleet before Cruisers and Battleships is based on fighters.
Considered your fleet speed is based on the slowest ship in your fleet you
will gain a lot to base your fleet on fighers, cruisers and battleships,
since figthers doesn't suffer from the speed penality. Another thing about
fighters: When I started to play this game I thought cool, the Kra'hen wont
take this planet if I max out with Heavy space bases's. WRONG, to my horror
them all got wasted in a major attack. Later I added xxxx fighters to the
deffending space base's and then the result was much better.

You can allways sell your tech and/or trade tech with some other race as
well.

I usally use my spies for counter intelligence and hunt for spies though.

Agree, when getting cruisers and battleships I build some variants that just
is used to hold and disable the enemy while the heavy hitters blast them out
of space.
Please learn to quote right ok? :) Because you can't control them you mean,
big deal they deliver and draw fire anyhow.

How do you come to that conclusion?

Corvettes and destroyers might be good for deffensive purpose later in the
game, but when chasing the kra'hen they just slow you down.

they

In huge amounts they pack a good punch anyhow. Of course, you need to
upgrade from the basic fighter to the more advanced ones. Like the "heavy
fighter" have firepower of 40, with 100 of them you have 4000 firepower,
with 1000, 40.000. Now compare the price and time it take to produce
corvettes. I stick with the fighters.
You have read the manual right? You can use that little slidebar to decide
what attack/deffence stance the fighters will have. Put it down to leftmost
and the fighters hang around the other ships to deffend them rather than
split up and attack.

Well, then you took out the fighters yourself, and you don't say what kind
of fighters that attacked you either :) Once you get Cruisers and
Battleships the destroyers and corvettes are just a waste to use resources
on.
I don't tend to read manuals that throughout either, but my oh my what you
can pick up here and there :)

Its not fun chasing a faster fleet just to discover than he pick one after
the other of you planets because you can't catch up
