BC3k- Derek Smart's Forgotten Lies

Diploma Mill Graduate has been dishing out, it is interesting and
amusing to note some of his other, less prominent lies.
Let's see -
- Last November, Derek was bragging about his published articles on
Neural Nets. When someone asked him where they could be found, he
amended his story and said 'They will be published once Interplay
releases my game.'
Well, it is now almost a year later - still no neural net articles!
- Derek Smart told us 2 years ago that he would discuss his PHD in his
'upcoming' book - 2 years later, no book
- Derek Smart was apparently suing/nailing Spokie/Daktari once he
obtained classified military information about him. He did brag he
could get anything on anyone. Still doesn't seem to have happened.
- Derek Smart bragged he did not need another PHD, since he already had
one. Now he tells us he is investigating getting another one. He told
us he could get another one in 1 month. Well, of course, if he goes to
another diploma mill, he sure can !
- Derek Smart told us that Mark Asher, Pat Muller, Dan Brooks, and
maybe Krud knew all the details of his diploma mill PHD over a year
ago. Of course, none of them really remember Derek ever telling them
anything about it.
- Derek Smart has told us recently that the reason he didn't reveal his
PHD was because of embarrassment. Of course, last year, he was saying
he wouldn't reveal it because he was afraid people would harrass his
school.
- Derek Smart continues to call himself a producer of the
'battlecruiser' series. If you count 100 patches for the same game a
'series', well I guess this can't be called a lie.
- Derek Smart continues to lie about Dan Bennet and PCGamer. He says
that the only reason he ever mentioned his thesis was published was
because of a bet with Bill Huffman. He lies about his bragging to Dan
Bennet. I think it sounds like he is accusing PC Gamer of being liars
and making up quotes that he never made.
I seem to recall over a dozen other prominent lies that Derek has told
around here - can anyone else recall them for me? I need a good laugh.
Seeing that PHD Fraud Derek Smart parading around with his signature
PHD makes every legitimate degree holder pissed at him. He is a lying
sack, and everyone on usenet knows it except a few delusioned people
like Patrick 'the Drinking Dutchman' Muller, who, despite Derek's own
admission that he received his degree at a diploma mill, continues to
believe that his PHD is perfectly valid because 'Derek says so.' Even
Dan Brooks and Joe BSFilter, good buddies of Derek, don't seem to
believe that Derek has a bona fide PHD anymore.
Ed Bain deserves some commendations, IMHO. At least he realized, albeit
a bit late, what a lying scumbag Smart really is. He revealed Smart for
the hypocrite and liar that he really is, and deserves a round of
applause for sinking the final nail in Derek's coffin. Smart lies to
and strings along his 1 or 2 supporters for years, and then leaves them
out in the cold, all the while expecting them to continue lying for
him. And at the same time, he insults them. No wonder he is a
friendless guy.
No wonder he is such an abject failure. Lying about a degree, even
after he is exposed as an academic fraud. He thinks he 'came' clean,
but in reality Bill Huffman won a resounding victory for truth when he
backed Derek into a corner from which Derek's own tangle of lies and
deceptions finally tripped him up. Dr. Bear put the final death knell
on Derek's fraud. I seriously doubt that Derek will ever take him up on
his offer of reviewing his thesis, if it exists at all. Heh Heh, Derek
may be the first guy that, in addition to sending in his check for his
Unscannable PHD Diploma Mill Diploma, actually sent in a 'thesis.'

time, micoseconds if not nanoseconds, that Derek Smart PhD Fakeus is a
man of GREAT Achievement and awesome power of intellect (if not aroma).
I have been holding back on the proof but, my guilt has become to
GREAT. I must crawl on my belly and beg for forgiveness. I must cry out
for my ever pending doom to consume me. I must reveal a new web page

However, I got BC3K 2.0 in 2000 and enjoyed it a lot. I also liked BCM. It's true there's a lot of bugs and crashes, but not always. BC3K was one of the first space sims, alongside others like Hardwar and Elite Frontier and X: Beyond The Frontier. I think Derek deserves some credit, even though he's mishandled a lot of things and lots of hate aimed at him.
(I recently tried BCM again and got to say it seems to crash less than it did when I played it 15 years ago. It's free too.)
