Trevor comes with a remote trigger. Set the explosive normally, and it asks
you for a det freq. All explosives in the sector which is set to the same
det freq detonates when you activate that frequency on the remote trigger.
For best effects, either set a several explosives on the same frequency or
put a string of TNT next to a remotely detonated bomb. When a group of
enemies waltz onto the "minefield", trigger the explosives. A bit tricky,
but quite effective IMHO.

Grab RDX and merge (control-click) it with C1 (commonly available from
Devin). Nasty stuff when used with above tips :). BTW, TNT+RDX is HMX,
another explosive.

Hi folks,

I often find TNT with a Remote Detonator attached to it, but I
haven't figured out how to use them.... I guess they require a
separate trigger device? Where can you find/buy one? And does it
last indefinitely, or is it "used up"?

Also, on a related note, has anyone tried combining Platinum Watch
+ Tape or Watch + Copper Wire or something like that to make a
normal timed detonator for Explosives?

Oh, and what the hell is "C-4"? I have seen it mentioned here
once or twice, but never seen it in the game - another rare type
of explosive?

Thanks, :-)

Some mercs come with it. I bought mine from devin. They don't get
used up AFAIK.

Haven't tried yet.

RDX with explosives but more stable (not the less stable kind)

not sure how to make it.

You are correct. There is a remote detonator. You can buy one
from Devin if you find him and he has one, and I believe the AIM merc Red
comes with one. It is not used up by use.

I've tried it to no success.

I beleive Fidel comes with oen of these. You get it when you mix
TNT and RDX.

I wonder if there are a few things that are "red herrings", or maybe they were
intended for something but never implemented. I'd like to think that there
might be a use for *everything*, yes, even the rubber bands and porn mags.

When I try this, I get a sort of green TNT called "HMX". Is this another word
for C-4?

Apologies for my ignorance in these matters - everyone around here seems to
know all about bullets and guns and bombs except for me. :-) I guess that's
what comes of living in an isolated little country like New Zealand.

Nope. HMX is cyclotetramethylenetetranitramine. It's a component of
several high-grade military explosives. RDX is a component of C-4. HMX
might also be a component of C-4, but it's certainly not *all* that C-4
consists of.

Hey, you probably know much more about sheep than the rest of us do, so it
evens out.

You live and you learn. Who said games weren't educational? ;-)
Thanks Brian.

Yeah, lucky me. <grin>

I beleive there are at least a few red herrings in there, though I
still wish I could merge a head and a silver platter.

Oops. I gave you the wrong information. You get C-4 by combining
RDX with C-1. HMX you get by combining RDX with TNT.

I actually don't know much about guns or explosives beyond what
I've been learning from the discussions on this newsgroup. I'm afraid
now, because I'm thinking how cool it would be to have an assault weapon,
but in the past I've always thought people with big guns were all kooks.

C-4 is military-grade plastique, not RDX+TNT (aka HMX).
