As far as I know, there is no way to move units as stacks (barring
transport-type movement). There are a couple of methods to ease the
movement of large numbers of units from point A to point B, but none that
involve stacking. Stacking seems so obvious, maybe a patch will come out
with it, but I'm not holding my breath. SMAC has been patched 3 times now,
and most companies don't patch beyond that number in my experience.
Assuming that all of the units are in the same city, press <Shift+J>.
This will bring up a screen of options that will determine which units
will be group moved. Once you hit OK, the units which pass the filter
should have a white hyphen "-" in their shield. These units are ready to
be group moved, there may also be some units with a white "G" in their
shield which means they have already moved, but they will move on their
next turn to the specified location. Now that your group is assembled,
press "j" to pick the destination city. I don't think there is a way to
stack a bunch of units and automatically order them to take a city (that
would be cool though if anyone from Firaxis is here). What will happen is
that the units in the group will move individually to the selected city.

I guess you've never been experienced... j/k. I just wanted to inform you
that patch 4.0 is in the works. Just a little newsbit from
http://www.sidgames.com/ac/
Great news, thanks. I tend to blame Microprose for the '3 Patches And Done'
trend, that was their magic number for so many of the games they put out.
