Yes I got the Salvage of the Madcat. It wasn't easy and then it was pretty
banged up. I took the turret base up the road and positioned my centurion,
commando, and Uller there. Do not position them all together. I then sent
the Raven down to the Madcat. When the Madcat activates turn around and run
(don't walk ...hehe) back to the base, the Madcat will follow. You can try 1
of 2 ways. 1) try and weaken his back armor by blowing up the gas tanks as
he walks by. Make sure he is not too close or it may kill him. and then
proceed to 2. 2) just run up to the base. When you get there have all your
guys attack, and the turrets will attack automatically. Try to keep your
guys from grouping in front of him that way no matter which way he turns you
get a back shot. He will try hard to get back to range but stay on him and
keep your guys around him so you always get a back shot. Then with a little
luck you will have a salvaged Madcat when it is over. Mind you this is
dangerous since he is a heavy hitter with those clan er ppc's, but if all
goes well it is a nice addition to your forces.

I tried again later where I saved all of my Large Airstrikes,
realizing earlier that whereas a Large Airstrike can destroy
Light 'Mechs outright, heavier 'Mechs can often (almost)
shrug them off. I did the same method of capturing the nearby
base's turrets, and then used the Raven to "unmask" all of the
territory in the vicinity of the Madcat's location, from his
initial starting point to the base up the road. Then I got
ran the Raven into his sensor range to get his attention and
then ran back towards the base. Halfway back, the combination
of the Raven's jamming and his slightly higher speed will allow
the Raven to get out of the Madcat's sensor range. The Madcat
stopped. Since I could now see him, I hit him with a pair of
Large Airstrikes to reduce his Armor, then had my Hollander,
Uller, Firestarter, and Raven ran up next to him to attack at
point blank range. This negates his 4 Clan LRM Racks and his 2
ER PPCs. The Madcat was yellow from the airstrikes but this
was all armor damage. Eventually, I was able to destroy one of
legs, and when he went down from a serious of solid hits, I went
for his head. . . He still killed my Uller (lost Beast, but the
'Mech was salvageable), but I got the Madcat so I lived with the
outcome. Salvaged the Madcat, one of his two ER PPCs, his flamer,
his sensor, and two of his four Clan LRM Racks.

It's actually pretty easy. Drop a sensor drone over the extraction
site. You'll see a yellow blip very close to the visible area on the
map. That's the mad cat. You have a large artie round and a small for
this mission. Drop the large as near to the mad cat as you can. Then
drop the small one in the same place, timed so they go off at roughly
the same time. Then check your salvage screen for it. It sees to kill
him every time. I had to restart 3 times before I got him for salvage,
but you can do this right at the start of the mission. Then once you
get him salvaged play the rest of the mission.
Where did you get the sensor probe? I don't get one when I play that
mission.

Well, I've only seen one madcat in the game, and that was on the
mission where you have to destroy a geadquarters building and extract
from the top of the mountain. The madcat is right next to the
extraction point.
Maybe you mean the Vulture in an earlier mission, that damn ambulance
protection thing? It looks kind of like a madcat.
There's a madcat on mission 3. I was reading the manual beforehand and
it mentions about pressing 8 + left click to aim for the head to
heightened the chance to get a salvageable mech. It was a nice surprise
that it worked.

I give "props" and a hands down to anyone who's done it...
I must have tried retrieving Mad Cat over a dozen times and still to no avail.
Its not a cinch to nab him intact like Uller or Hollander mech in the previous
levels. I keep blasting him to smithereens... or he gets me..
Anyhow, been playing this for over a day now and its a great game... a big
headache too...
hope someone posts some cheats soon...
