Empire total war mixes turn based strategy with RTS and ends up disappointing
players. I chucked my copy into the bin. The naval battle is like Sid Meier's
Pirates (video arcade-ish) while ground battle is not manageable at all!
Where's the retreat order for ground units? Just stand there and get mauled...

I agree
The game cheats, on a number of times the british side has outnumber the
other side
2 to 1 at least and has superior weapons and seasoned troops and yet they
lose
They also have american indians with artillery and there are other things
about the game
which is plain stupid. I bought the game and was that a mistake.
You can not use ships cannon to fire on land targets, why not? That is
stupid.

I wonder who is to blame for this garbage.

I think that only one who can be blamed here are you, your mother, and your
father as well for bringing an IDIOT to this Planet in suffering. LOL

This is only a game you moron. You are paying a 50 euros or dollars a game.
You are not paying LIFE but GAME. As any game it is not perfect.

Lousy AI? I agree, AI is lousy. Sweden is for 50 years taking a port back
that Courland has occupied and then Courland is taking it again with it's
navy and that again and again. Stupid? Yes. Better AI you will have in 2500
on a Enterprise Space Ship or accept that Computers are not Humans and go
play against Human.

But again, game is simulation. I know that you are moron and idiot and
nothing can change that. Every human has those genoms that he have and he
cannot improve that very much! Even books could help you but not much.

Ships not firing on a shore? LOL

Do you actually in your brain UNDERSTAND how games work, how computers
WORK???

The game was not programmed in that way to have part when you fire at land
targets AS THAT would require completely another CODE and part of the game.
So you cannot bitch for something that was not even designed or intended to
be in the game.

You payed 50 something but that doesn't grant you RIGHT to speak your
bullshit.

Game is ENTERTAINMENT. That's how you must look at games. As ENTERTAINMENT!

And one other thing, game is sheer fun! Of course that human will win
against AI.

Yes, some sob has come from a work with his lousy job and miserable boss and
he just need a game where AI will trash him completely! Human beings wants
challenge from AI but also they love that feeling of VICTORY over AI.

I am playing Empire: Total War as Ottomans on NORMAL/NORMAL. Yes, some will
say lol amateur but as first game I play on Normal to learn game. And I
enhoy fun of this game immensely!
Just sank 10 trade ships of Russian navy and captured two trade ships with
two of my ships, lol, one was 2nd rate and one 3rd rate. That was a
slaughter! :) But fun!

Also, game is not very historical and realistic but again, this is MASS
MARKET GAME! It was designed that way to twich history here or there but it
was designed to be fun and when game is fun that is most important factor
wheter it will be successful or not.

I have conquered all India, few provinces in Russia and one in Austria and
Venezia and Morocco. And Gibraltar yesterday as Spain stabbed me in the
back. And it is fun again!

Of course that I will play second game on VERY HARD/VERY HARD. But even at
that I don't find that NORMAL NORMAL is so easy. It is, but it is stil not
boring easy.

That's it. Reason that I have said you some rude words? You acted like moron
and that what you have get in your face. Speak some smart things and not 8
year old boy stupidity and I will even praise you.

And if you want better game, go make it on yourself. Or don't buy games at
all, hybernate yourself for 2500 years and when we take you from fridge you
will have hopefully better games. Deal?

gah, sorry man that was really rude from me... few beers too much :((

it was triggered when some say that good game is garbage and this game is
not, it have some problems (many!) but it is still a good game.

Last night I barely won a battle against Poland. I had more troop but lesser
quality (few good units) and it was 5am and i've sent my captain against 100
of his troops (ok I sent some others) and my units started to rout and I
barely won. Lost 1100 troops, only reinforcing took 6800.
That is a lesson to guard captain...

Yeah but it's not exactly difficult though, I was doing shore
bombardments on Pirates! Gold on my turbo-ninja P120 system. Oh, and
that game cost me around fifteen quid IIRC.

Oh, but it does. Particularly in these days where it's virtually
impossible to get refunds on PC games (not that you're told that when
you're handing over your money - I'm looking at YOU, Game...).

Another issue on the modern economy is that of Opportunity Cost -
other things you can buy with 50 include:-

62 cans of Damburger Export lager.

22 pints of Black Sheep at a Bannatynes in the North-East.

Around 14 10-boxes of Hamlet Miniatures (and it's debatable whether a
really poor game isn't worse for you ;-) )

5000 penny chews (or 10000 Red Laces at late 1980s prices).

500 10p mix-ups.

Indian takeaway for four including mains, rice and naans.

One match watching Newcastle United play Scunthorpe United in the
Championship (HA HA!).

To be fair, I often start most strategy games on Normal as well. Been
a while since I bought one though. IIRC, the last one was GalCiv2.

I've played Silent Hunter IV on the highest difficulty from the start,
having played my second Silent Hunter III save on that level. I'll
admit that there were times early on where I questioned my decision
though, I'd forgotten how critical ship identification was and the few
ships that are common to both games are on /your/ side.

Oh, and the Collectors Edition of SHIV that I got only cost 17.35,
which shows the virtue of patience.

Yeah, sure, maybe I have jumped prematurely to conclusions. It would be good
to have battles like that comic boom character Redbeard
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redbeard_(comics)
There was nice episode when they bombed some Casbah with their ship. They
also used Galleon in one episode etc...

But, fast forward to reality CA is doing things like for example people
behind Heroes of Might & Magic series (1-5), or Romance of Three Kingdoms
(1-11) series. And that is evolutionary improvements, not exactly
revolutionary. Mind you previous game didn't even had naval battles.

Hehe... Great comparation!

I got the message. But again tell me what is purpose of games? This is one
of those games that you can play for sure many month. I will play Ottomans
and this is nearing to an end and then Prussians and then will play with
some mod. That is really a lot of time play for money invested. There were
far too many games that wasn't exactly so good or I've play them for a week
then uninstalled them and tossed away (puff gone 40 quids).

Yes... but this game is a must have on first day of release :> Or almost
must have. Mainstream title that has enough of entertaining value coupled
with enough of production value and really big impact on a market so anyone
who thinks that refusing of buying of next Total War title will hurt CA
developers is dead mistaken - for any lost copy there would be ten new
buyers in the market. It is simply good stuff.

Of course it is not Beyonce or crap like that, more Billy Idol lol
