Hi all...

I've got a couple of (well a few actually) questions about Patrician 3.

I had several brickworks operating in Luebeck, but I auctioned them off as I
couldn't produce bricks cheaply enough. However, I'm still getting a few
bricks produced i.e bricks still show up in my trading office. I've triple
checked, but I definitely have no brickworks operating. I'm also producing
timber, so I can't tell whether this 'psuedo'production is costing me
anything in timber. Is this a bug?? If it is, I'll just accept the 'free'
production. (No land taxes).

I'm preparing a fleet to undertake an expedition. The convoy leader has to
have an experience rating of 10. Is this experience in a single discipline
(trading / combat etc), or the cumulative experience??

I understand an expedition is either an exploration or trading expedition.
In an exploration expedition, will any trading at all occur?? (Should I
provide cash/goods for possible trades?)

How much cash should an expedition carry? The convoy will consist of 3
crayers.

How many sailors should I send in each ship??

Thanks in advance, Stupot

Have not seen this problem, but then again, I tend not to auction off
business because I don't build them unless I need them. Brickworks
especially I can never get enough of, and Lubeck is not a bad place to have
them, provided you ship in cheap timber.

Not sure what you mean here. Have you successfully created a convoy (for
sailing around the Hanse)? The only three requirements that I'm aware of are
that the leader must have a captain (any captain), at least 20 sailors and
enough weaponry (catapaults/cannons/etc) to have two red cannonballs of
firepower (I think 3 large catapults plus a small catapult gives you this.)

Nope, exploration missions do not trade. However, it is possible to perform
upto 4 actions per expedition, so you can do two explorations and two
trades, or any other mix. The trade mission doesn't work unless you (or
somebody else) has already found a town to trade with, so your first mission
should probably be just a exploration mission. You can specify upto four
places to explore, but this will mean that the expedition will take longer
to return, and hence longer before you can send out a trading expedition.

The towns (and the goods they trade) is effectively fixed, so check on the
fansites to find out where you should be sending your expedition.

Three (level 3) crayers is fine for a Med expedition assuming that you are
not rolling is cash or goods to sell off. You will want a good sailing
captain if you are planing on sending them to the Americas though. The
expedition should carry enough cash to pay for all the goods they will be
buying. They will buy as much as they can, limited by the cargo capacity of
the ships and the available cash. Of course, if you take goods to sell, make
sure they you visit the selling port before the buying port (unless they are
the same port).

For crayers, deck them out! Give them the full crew compliment. For hulks or
*shudder* cogs, you may want to go with half crew, if you have a good
captain and are only going to the Med. In any case, the convoy leader should
have a full crew.

Also remember that the convoy will reappear on the map near London, and then
sail back to the port it left from. During this time it is very vulnerable
(it's loaded up with goods, and the ships are probably damaged), so either
be prepared to divert it into a nearby port (the ships may need repairs
before they will sail again), or have an escort on standby.

Sorry, after I posted I realised this. Somewhere along the way I mistook the
ship armament strength to be the captain's strength.

Thanks for the other tips.
