I completed the panzer general 2 blitzkrieg campaign up to Savannah. Unable
to win at Oak Ridge. My army consist of 12 tanks, 4 pionere divisions, 5
artillery, 6 recon, 4 fighters, 1 tac bomber & 1 anti-tank.
The problem is lack of prestige in order to upgrade my tanks from PzIIIh &
PzIVd to king tigers at Savannah.
The PzIIIh & PzIVd are okay in the final 1941 Russian battles. I get 3 more
tiger tanks for Windsor 1943 and win a Brilliant victory without loss of any
unit. But then in the battle of Savannah suffer a 100% loss of tank units
that are not tiger or king tiger because there is not enough prestige to
upgrade my units to fight in the 1945 time frame. The IIIh's & IVd's tanks
can't stand up the American tanks. The king tiger tanks & Jaddtiger have no
problem in Savannah. I played this battle several times and attempted 3
different strategies: upgrading as many tanks to king tigers and over
strengthening these units but the tanks not upgraded are all destroyed and I
am left with only 5 tanks at the end of Savannah. Second attempt was to
upgrade 3 tanks to king tigers and and upgrade the rest of the IVd and IIIH
to the PzIVh models but these upgrades also can't make it to the end of
Savannah. Third attempt was to attack with only king tigers and tiger tanks
and pionere infantry and save the rest of the tanks for the next battle but
this also failed. My final solution is to wait for someone to come out with
a prestige cheat or game upgrade so I can finish this campaign. In my
opinion the hardest battles are Novgorod & Savannah. In both battles you
lose the most units. Windsor 1943 is easy. The best strategy is the split
your army into 2 or 3 groups and head straight for the victory objectives.
Each group should have artillery, pionere infantry and tanks to take any
victory hex. Tac bombers can substitute for artillery if necessary. Fighters
can destroy enemy fighters or kill units knocked down to strength or 1 or 2.
I don't use any Air defense units but prefer fighters over AD for because
fighters can be used for offense or defense operations. My best advice to
campaign players is to save the games after each campaign before you upgrade
or over strength units so you don't have to start from the begining of the
game to replay a battle. I have saved up to Dunkirk without lost of any
unit. I do not take a brilliant victory at Dunkirk so I can build up my
prestige at Tobruk battles.
I lose some units at Novgorod but make these loses up in the last 2 Russian
battles. I able also disappointed that I never get to use my favorite tank ,
the Panther, as the campaign jumps from 1943 to 1945 and forces the upgrade
to king tigers versus Panthers. My next attempt is to save all prestige for
Savannah for the maximum upgrade possible.

Here's what worked for me:

First of all, don't depend on air power too much in this game. It
will kill you in the American scenarios. My unit configuration looked
like this going INTO Savannah:

11 Tanks (6 Tiger I purchased for Windsor)
3 StuGIII B's (2 were "gift" prototypes)
2 Sig I B's
3 Psw 231 Scouts
3 Sdkfz 7/1 AAA
3 Pioneers (Same units I started with)
3 FW190 a's
4 Ju87g's (1 "gift" unit)

At Windsor I upgraded my second best tank units to Tiger I's This
left me with the prestige to build up my best units to King Tigers
(overstrengthed) before Savannah. Land the King Tigers in the first
wave followed by Tigers, Artillery, AAA and scouts.

There are a group of 3 hexes far to the south. This is a suicide zone
for landing. Put 3 Pioneers in those hexes and then head (slowly)
South. If you threaten the Southern beaches with them It will keep
the American Airforce busy trying to bomb them and draw off some tanks
from the main assault. Keep them close to land so tanks will try to
hit them. Neither the Tac bombers or tanks have a good naval attack
value so they are in very little danger. The Tac bombers will chew
your tanks to bits though if you let them.

Use you air power to attack the Allied ships in the North. You should
beat them handily. Use the two biggest German BB's to supplement the
bombing. Move the rest of your ships to the shore for shore
bombardment.

On landing split into two seperate attack groups (here is where AAA
guns really shine) One sweeps North and West and takes the outlying
objectives. Try to keep everone within two hexes of AAA. If done
right you will have time to get them into the final battle. The other
group heads to the South and crosses bridge to take the other
objective cities. Use artillery to soften up targets before
attacking. If you work things right you should get allot of overrun
attacks.

I had allot of troubles with this one too until I got the right mix of
units. IMHO it's artillery and AAA that wins the final battles for
you. I managed Brilliant victories in both.

If you're interested, keep posted to the PacGen Armory website... a
spinoff page for PG2 is due out soon, and there is currently a lot of
info there for PG2.

A new highly researched unit roster for PG2 should be available by the
end of the weekend, so check it out.

This roster will offer improved stats (more historically accurate) and
new units... you won't be disappointed.

Try using a much smaller army. Your army will be cheaper to maintain
and build better experience/leaders. Leaders and overstrength are much
more important than number of units. If you match your leaders'
strengths well you can make a small but devastating force -- 1 tank, 1
infantry, 1 artillery and maybe a recon/weak tank. (For example to
capture the southern airport and the northwest city & airport in
Savannah)

I went into Savannah w/ 6 tanks, 4 pionere, 5 artillery, 2 recon, 3
fighters, 2 tac, 1 anti-tank. I upgraded the tanks to King Tigers
with one Panther G, the artillery to 17's, recon to 234/2 and my tac
to ??? (3rd in the list). I purchased one anti-air and easily won a BV
with 3 turns left with loss of only an anti-tank (due to stupid
impatience).

... Speaking of patience, it is the key to defeating the USAAF. Take
the bomber out early but be defensive until the middle turns. Then,
you can chip away at the rest with 3 squadrons at once

Got a BV in Oak Ridge by selling one of my five artillery and a
prototype anti-air I was awarded Was able to overstrentgh everyone
and upgrade 2 of my 3 fighters ... Did lose a tank, a recon and an
artillery but it was the last battle so what the heck.

Also try adding units just for the turn you need them -
An Anti-air in Windsor, An Artillery in Novgorod, etc.

I use the Panther G to drive to my north-west objectives in Savannah

One more note ... Play for a BV in Dunkirk so that you get to Windsor
early. It will be very difficult to get a no loss, BV but you will
pick up numerous leaders and lots of experience "bars"
