Darn! Well, at first I was disappointed because I was working on
this. (Just didn't have as much time the last two days as I needed.)
Then, I realized that it saved me a whole bunch of work, so thanks for
the info.
I have one question, is there any significance to the asterisk (*)
after some of the skills? I have searched everywhere for what this
means (paper and online docs) and can't find anything.

From what I have figured out, it denotes that skill has effect over the
entire empire/star system/fleet (as appropriate) and not just on the one
planet or ship the hero is assigned to.

I assume it means the same thing it did in MOM... Essentially,
the skill increases faster.. (I can't remember exactly any longer,
it's been a while)
An asterisk denotes a "super skill", means that it's 50 percent
greater than the normal ability of the same name.
Also, on the list, it had Mystic X having set skills, Mystic X has a
choice between 8 random non-admin abilities.. (admin abilities being
farming leader, environmentalist, etc)

I betcha it the same in MoO2 because all the "*" traits I've seen

AAAAK! Mystic X survives from MOM to MOO2! Oh the horror! Oh the
humanity!
I bet he'll be as popular as a Klackon city in MOM.
Hey, I liked Mystic X in MoM. Sure, usually he sucks, but I remember the
time I got him with super Arcane Power, super Agility, and Blademaster.
He was incredibly nasty, especially when he ended up with an armor
piercing artifact.
ObMoO2 - Does anybody have any opinions on the power of heroes in MoO2?
I like them, they're not so overpowering as they were in MoM. Or has
anybody had a hero that WAS so overpowering?

I think the diff is mainly the artifacts. When I had a Super Arcane Power
hero, with -12 spell save, Phantasm, +15 (or something) attack, and
Demigod, plus a few enchantments, I could take a Sky Drake on impossible
out in one hit. That sort of thing just isn't possible here. (Which is
both good and dissappointing at the same time, I rather enjoyed my
Superheroes and Superpaladins)

Not overpowering, but I have found the leaders with production or farm
bonuses can be pretty heavy, I always seem to end up with Crassus, who
comes in at production +10 early in the game but ends up climbing to
+40 later. This can be HUGE on an Ultra Rich world.
Leaders with instructor skill and morale boosts, and assasin skills
are also among my favorites.

as others have posted, I like to limit myself to 6 leaders (3 per
category), so as to not miss any opportunities for new ones.
The best colony leaders are those with 'multiple' skills (labor,
finance, research), although 'famous' is also handy at the start,
and the psilon scientist can REALLY help your research. I don't
bother with environmentalists, as usually that's all they do, and
once you get pollution control they're not worth much.
For ship leaders, I like one 'fighter' type (weaponry, ordnance, etc.),
one 'marine commander' (leads the boarding parties).
last night, i found a new one, somebody the Ancient Mariner (or
something like that). He brings knowledge of all star systems on
the map! Pretty handy.
