Right. A couple of months ago, I heard the rumours that Mike Singleton was
working on a version of Lords of Midnight for the IBM. Not heard of
LoM? Well, if you are a twenty-something British gamer, you'll know it was
a tremendous game of exploration and grand strategy in a fantasy world,
seen from the first person perspective of any of your commanders. In its
day, revolutionary.

Rumours are rumours, I thought, and went on a nostalgia trip.

Now, I was just flicking through an issue of PC Gamer, and I come across
a full-page ad for "Lords of Midnight - The Citadel" --- "Coming soon
from Domark." The screenshots were mouth-watering, and at the very mention
of Prince Luxor and Prince Morkin, my heart melted and I resolved to
buy the game as soon as it comes out. My question is ---

Does anyone have a release date for this? Or any more information,
such as the minimum spec. expected for this thing?

On behalf of twentysomething British gamers everywhere,

Marc

Marc, Marc, you had me all excited there. It's supposed to be out this month.

I can't wait myself.............

The plot is based on the archetypical "imaginary game" Eye Of The Moon, the
non-appearance of which in the early 80's was a major cause of depression
in the UK.
To my unutterable joy, I read an interview with Singleton, in which he
expressed a desire to have a continuing series of LOM games based around
Luxor, then Morkin. He's got plots for *7* of the things! Hurrah! Sod
Ultima!

It's supposed to be massive, feature magic (Old Rorthron is in there as well,
God, bless him!), have weather, sea and water travel and be generally
marvellous, much as we'd expect.

Seconded, by another twentysomething British gamer.

Sorry I deleted your name Marc...anyways I am not British but on my old
Timex Sinclair 2000 I played LoM and Doomdarks Revenge! What an excellent
set of games!

So is it like you said a continuation of the first two? Leaving off with the
death of Sharleth the Heartstealer? I feel it would be shame to ignore the
first two since they deserve recognition! Besides PC gamers can play LoM
and Doomdarks by getting a spectrum emulator and getting a .SNA of the
programs! It is neat to see Corleth the Fey slay skulkrin again!

Like you both, I look forward to a new fantasy series that may rival
the Ultima series!

Talks soon...

Yes, Lords of Midnight is my favourite game EVER! Heavy strategy,
overwhelming scenario, even identification with the characters!
Please keep us informed...

Good old times ... I played Lords of Midnight on a 64K Spectrum.
I'd like to see the same amount of fun per byte on my 8M PC !!!
