Does 'Control-c' work for you? That's the default key assignment for
selecting a city after you've found it. Isn't that supposed to change
the screen to the city view selected? I tried it in Rise of Nations
regular and Rise of Nations with the Thrones and Patriots expansion
but I can't get it to work in either.

'C' by itself finds the searched city, and 'Shift-c' selects all the
cities, but I can't get 'Control-c' to work. In the default hot-key
assignment page in the game, 'Control-c' is described as 'Select city,
without zoom'. What the heck does that mean? Whatever it is, it
doesn't seem to have any effect on the game.

I'm using WinXP with the latest service pack (SP3).

Thank you.

Been a while since I played RoN ... but don't you have to assign it to a
number like you do with selecting units?

I seem to recall that you selected the city so it is 'highlighted' and
then press the control key and a number (i.e. ctrl-1) and from then on
when you press the number 1 (no control key) it automatically zooms to
that city.

You can do that. The keys available for that are 1-9 and F1-F8. You
create control groups by assigning them with a combination control key
and one of those keys eg. Ctrl-1, Ctrl-2, etc. Once created you can
select them by simply pressing 1 or 2 and so on. You can also
'bookmark' any area in the map without selecting anything using the
same procedure.

As you may recall, you can browse through cities by pressing the 'c'
key several times. Shift-c selects all cities, and Ctrl-c is supposed
to select a specific city. But I can't get Ctrl-c to work to select a
specific city after I've found them by pressing the 'c' key several
times, and that is the default key assignment. And so is Ctrl-l
(library), Ctrl-k (barracks), Ctrl-n (market), etc.
