XCOM2--Aqua Plastics

I am having a MAJOR problem in X-COM 2. I can't research Aqua Plastics. Is
this a bug? How is it remedied?

It's NOT a bug. You have to research a Deep One Corpse before you get
Aqua Plastics. For more info, see below.

No, really. I've got the same problem. I've researched a Deep One Corpse,
and got the message 'you can now research Aqua-Plastics', and aqua-plastics
actually appeared under my 'new-projects' menu ONCE. Since then I've sold
all my plastic and gone out and gotten more several times, but aqua-plastic
doesn't appear on my menu even when plenty is around.

any suggestions? is it a bug?

perhaps it's necessary to re-research a Deep One corpse?

Before you can research Aqua Plastics you must kill a Deep
One
[ the funny lookin aliens that are white] and recover their corpse.
They are only found in terror sites in the begining
of the game so you might
have to start over.
