I downloaded the SimCity 2000 demo (for pc's). It required a VESA
driver (what is that?) Well, I finally dug one up for my card.

Will the game require the VESA driver also? And if so, will it slow
down the computer? (I have an 16 bit ISA card, if that makes a
difference)

Depends on the brand of card. We did our best to support the major cards,
but there's just too many to support all of them so we built in VESA
support (VESA I believe stands for "Video Electronics Standards Assoc.)
It's like saying something's "Soundblaster compatible", but the VESA
set the standard instead of a brand-named product. Pretty much every
card out now has VESA support through either software (running a TSR)
or hardware (actually on the card in ROM). We tried to stick as many
drivers on the distibution disks (as many as the lawyers could get
permission for anyhow). As for speed, I don't know if VESA runs any
slower than normal access. I do know that SC2k will use the accelerated
routines available on a lot of the Windows accelerators (Diamond Stealth,
STB, Number 9, etc) to speed things up a bit.

How about OS/2 support?
