Hi all,

I currently playing the Archibald campaign, and am stuck on scenario 7
(the one where you have to conquer the dragon city or something).
Anyway, is this scenario possible? I start off with an empty castle,
and very quickly enemy heroes start showing up armed with green dragons
and other nasties that wipe out my meager forces. Egads!

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Jon

It IS possible, but very difficult. It makes the following scenario much
easier, however, because the dragon stacks will join your heroes from that
point onward. the key to this game is getting your own Dragons as fast as
you possibly can. Make sure that you start with a Warlock. It's not easy,
but once you get your own Dragons you can start holding off the others and
take the castle that the computer player is building his dragons. It's
toward the middle, down a bit and to the west.

Good Luck.

Is that the one where you're stranded on an island, you have two forces
against you and you must conquer dragon city? If so, I just started out as
well and seem to be doing okay.

My advice to you would be to play a Necromancer, hire a Sorceress (if
possible) and have her use the ship next to your castle. Then pick up all of
the wood and treasure chests in the ocean. You main Necromancer character
should have Skeletons, Royal Mummies, and Vampire Lords to start with. If you
play it right you can take out the dwarves, mummies, and ogres to gain control
of some nearby resources with that army.

I also try to get Liches and Bone Dragons as soon as possible, then worry
about the 2nd level mages guild and other stuff.

Hope that helps,

Hopefully, you have an ogre alliance. Pick up lots of ogres/lords and
upgrade them at the ogre/dwarf upgrade house. Hire second and third heros
VERY early because there is lots of stuff up for grabs. Good luck.

This scenario is actually easy if you hire two heros on the first turn,
send them out getting mines and goodies, and have your "hammer" hero take
experience chests and ogres. Using these simple strategies, I took the
main CP castle very early in the second month, the one to the north the
month after, and won very quickly after that. Good luck.

I actually did it using the Necromancer. I was able to take the northern
players castle and keep it. This gave me enough resources to get ahead
of the southern player and eventually take him out as well. The key is
that the southern player starts with a powerful army with 3 dragons in it
and even though you can take his castle easily (he doesn't defend it
well) you usually end up losing it back quickly. Anyway, by getting the
northern castle, his heroes disappear after seven days and then you have
2 castles to one. It's just a power game from then on with the advantage
on your side.

Ian.

I agree, winning this scenario makes the rest of ther campaign
comparatively easy.

Those green dragons that the opposition starts with sure are a pain. But
after a couple of false starts, I developed a theory about this scenario -
if you can avoid contact with the other side until you have a dragon tower
built, it appears as though they aren't too adventerous about seeking you
out. Above all, don't let them "chase" one of your heroes back to your
castle. Anyway, it worked for me, and I've now finished the campaign (in
570 days).

I'd like to play the "good guys" to get more out of this game, but their
armies (except perhaps titans, who are too expensive) are too wimpy. Black
Dragons rule! I finished the campaign with over 40 of them in my main
hero's army.

Cheers, Greg

I've played the good guys twice now (490 and 385 days), and yes, black
dragons rule, and titans are an expensive bugger, but the funny thing
is, on the large maps where dragons come into play, the evil castles can
be, well, overthrown, and well, i just waltz around with my ex
titan/archmage hero, now equipped with despoiled black dragons, and use
them against the evil hordes <g>. T

The point is, I still use dragons, even playing good, I just dont start
OUT with a warlock castle (tho, obviously, tis my first objective in the
larger maps).

Happy hunting...

btw, how the HECK do ye get a dragon score, cant beat phoenix on the
campaigns, and 180 or so is highest for a std scenario...of course i
prob need tojack it up to expert to get the scores...
