I there an ending to this game. I completed the mission at T'leth and
it dumped me out to the New Game/Load Game/Dos menu. I'm using Win 95
and am afraid it cut out the ending sequence.
Please tell me there is one! Ill go back and finish it again in Dos.
Thanks in advance

There is an ending story, but as you already know, the last level
was such an anti-climax and a bore to finish. The ending story is
so sterotypical, it isn't worth watching.

You can start playing the game over (i.e., start a new game), or shelf
it for a few months then play it again -- XCOM is very playable
(high replay value)

There's supposedly a nice animation in the CDROM version. The floppy version
has a lame slideshow.

You'ere right about the last levels. I was expecting it to be
difficult. But it was a breeze! The levels could have been thought out
more with aliens hiding just around the corner, or something!

There is no such thing as a Tasoth Commander. If you get one, the game
is buggy and you can't win. I think the patch fixes it. There is an
ending which nicely preludes X-Com 3. Hope it helps.

diffrent games)Evrey time I played the game and researched it I could not
for some reason beat the game.I also know that there have been reports of
the same by other players.

When I played the last level of TFTD on Superhuman, I had ONE guy left at the
very end of the level (out of 26). This was because it was so long that guys
with even the slightest wound died before the end because I didn't bring
medikits. I found it pretty hard, even with MC.

I admit, I wasn't playing at the highest difficulty. But I didn't lose
a single man. I brought lots of medikits and the first alien I find
becomes a scout for the rest of the lvl.
I guess I will start over and try it at the highest lvl, after I'm
done with Civ II of course :)

FWIW, I played TFTD on Superhuman and I won without a single casualty. The
key was to train up the Psi troops to high strength (120+) and have a lot of them
(I have 10 Psi Amps amongs 18 Troops w/ 2 Displacers). Anyone I couldn't control
I killed.

On Supewrhuman, you will encounter a lot of tough aliens (such as Nautiloids)
that you CANNOT mind control no matter how many times you try. It becomes a
LOT tougher.

Personally, I *avoid* mind or molecular control. It ruins the game totally.
I had these two *badass* xcommies in my last game of ufo/eu who were really
tough and fast. It turned out that they were also very powerful in MC.

From then on, the game degenerated to these two sitting back and using MC
constantly. I finished the final scenario without *any* fighting at all.
It was a dead loss. A bit like having a bath with your socks on.

Then I realised who had been telling me this...

I think xarquid can be controlled by soldiers with MC score of 90+

Yes, you're right, to a certain extent. It does ruin the game a bit, but at
certain scenarios, it'll be hard not to use it, especially if there are
Ethereals present, since they like gofing with YOUR brain.

Generally though, I had a very good laugh about how you could truly use this
feature, but in the end it got boring.

L8r, dude.

Well, you can still *research* it, and develop the labs, so you can tell
which troops to fire and which to keep. That *doesn't* mean you have to
actually *use* it in combat. Etherials are piss poor against psi-strong
troops with heavy plasma and power armor.

Basically, ethereals are only a threat when you don't know the psi strength
of your boys and girls.

Oh -- another thing is to use laser rifles not plasma when going up against
etherials:

1. sectopods are laser-vulnerable.

2. power armor is laser-resistant.

I had a real laugh one game;

2 soldiers, both with laser rifles, both in power armor.
1 gets mind-controlled, the other gets berserked.

They are face to face, and spend about FIVE turns blasting each
other with their lasers at *point*blank* range.

When I finally get control of them, they are still standing, and I'm
wondering how much damage they took. Very little -- and *NO* fatal
wounds.

It was a *real* laugh :-) Because the etherials were pouring their resources
into them and I was free to attack etherials.

Which is another point --

It can be worth while taking a few psionic WIMPS on a mission against
etherials.

Give them maybe a medikit and a motion scanner and *NO* weapons or armor.

The etherials latch onto them, and don't bother anyone else (mastly).
