Are there any cheats for BI3? I've been stuck on the same scene for like
forever and getting pretty frustrated. Any way of getting extra units or
credits to build items?

TIA

You could use a hex editor and hack the savegame files. Start on different
levels and write down your total energy, and then do a search in the
savegame file(look at the date of the file to find the correct one). You can
also edit individual units and set their ammunitions, experience, unittype
etc. For instance, write down the ammunition level for a unit which has 1 3
2 10 of weapon A, B, C and D. Do a search in the savefile for 01 00 03 00 02
00 0A 00. You will have found the unit!!! Remember this is in HEX.

One of the WWW sites has a savegame editor, and also saved games for
some of the maps. I'm not sure how these work as I've never used them. I
can't remember the site, but if you do a Net Search for "Battle Isle 3"
I'm sure you'll find it.

I probably have the files somewhere as I have downloaded just about
everything related to Battle Isle in my Web wanderings, so if you can't
find the site in question, e-mail me and I'll have a look.

Which level are you stuck on?
There are several ways to solve each level.
As far as cheating - I haven't seen any - just save often!

You could edit the binary save file - if you are so inclined.
Or, you could use a map editor and change the campaign itself.
Remember, if you change the campaign - you have to start that map
over...

Many thanks for your suggestion - I'm not very experienced with hacking
in hex, but I'll give it a go

Hi Malcom,
I only know that there is a cheat in thne german version:

Type "FUCKBAUEREWALD" while in the game anmd you should get
a cheat-menu when pressing F7 (or maybe F9).

I'm not sure if that works in the english version.

If your cursor is over an unit you're able to change:

- units experience
- units "hitpoints"
- units alignment

in general, you can:

- enable full map view
- disable computer moving
- control allies

Thats all I remember now, because I didn't play the game for a long
time.

Hope that helps,
Carsten

Hi

Further to reply from Carsten Mallek the cheats do work in the English
version but unfortunately when the Cheat menu comes up its written in
German. But there was a BI3 website that had translated it all - Andrea
Roveri's BI3 Unofficial Homepage - sorry don't know the full address. I
have hard copies of some details. Type "ewald" and then F9 to bring up the
menu.

I think repeated pressings of the option numbers changes the options as
below.

Option 1 makes you continue mission, win mission or loose mission. Option 2
changes fuel supply of the unit under cursor. Option 3 changes unit under
cursor's experience level. Option 4 is makes subs visible/invisible.
Option 5 changes number of the live hit points in the unit under cursor.
Option 6 makes map visible/restores prvious visibility level. Option 7
switches control between human and computer. Option 8 enables you to take
control of the unit under the cursor (ie: can change computer unit to your
colour!). Option 9 switches control of allied players between computer and
human control.

Hope this helps.

True

I do, but not enough, obviously

I tried editing the file using XtreeGold but it garbled the code so I'll
not try that again!

Malcoln,

You're almost out of luck!
Do you still have a save of the previous mission, "At the gate of Hallwa"?
You could load that one - and pick up from there...

I think if you load a game with a level code (without a save file),
then you are going to start an individual game with basic experience.

Good luck,
TimK

Very useful indeed - many thanks for your help. Now I'm getting
somewhare at last - I'd almost reached the point of giving up playing
completely.

Guess which slot I saved 'In the Capital City' in - right!

Thanks! I'm back up to Level 10 again, after 3 days of intensive playing
so I should be back at the same place I lost it before long. The cheat I
got from Carsten Mallek is working a treat - just hope it doesn't make
the game too boring now, though!
