Ya gotta love this game!

On DAY1 I had to let Hector die. I couldn't afford
to use up my medikit and he was too badly wounded.
He screamed for an hour the little pantywaist.

On Day2 Hurl ran off. I left ICE and Snake behind
for medical treatment and headed into the bush with
Wolf, Ivan, Fidel, Jimmy, and the native guide Elio.
I quickly got one sector but ran into serious trouble
in the second. I started out in the middle of a
pasture with a bush and a tree. Right off I know
I'm in trouble. Sure enough, I no sooner hid all
my mercs behind this stick than the shooting starts.
Man, what a firefight that was. Pretty soon there
are 5 mercs pouring fire into my position. One of
them is firing this CANNON that is practically
lifting him off the ground every time he pulls the trigger.

My guys are starting to take a beating. Jimmy tries
to flank them but takes several hits before he gets
out of range. Up to this point, Ivan and Fidel
have been conserving ammo but they finally say
SCREW IT!!! and open up. Wolf is busy running back
and forth between mercs trying to patch them up.
Eventually Ivan and Fidel take a few enemy out and the
other tries to retreat. Fortunately, by then Jimmy
has made it to their rear and begins to cut them down.
Finally, its over but the cost has been steep.

I send for guards to cover my mercs retreat. I hear
splashing sounds and see the guards swimming to
the sector. I'm thinking "Hey this is kind of cool"
when to my horror they begin to drown. Only 1 of
the guards makes it to shore and he is in critical
condition. To make matters worse, enemy mercs
have reentered the sector. I call for more guards
and turn to make battle. For a while its nip and
tuck, but the new guards show and turn the tide
by sacrificing themselves and letting my mercs
get behind the enemy and finish them off.

Ok I'm a little bloodied but still viable so I leave
Ivan, Fidel, and Jimmy to heal and take the rest
back out for Day 3. This day doesn't go well at all.
First, I have to retake a sector that I captured,
then lost the previous day. I have to do this twice.
During this time, Elio bites the big one.
I finally manage to take a new sector at the end of the
day. I return to camp only to find out that I can't
pay all my mercs so I decide not to pay Snake. He
doesn't take it well. To my surprise, the others
don't take it well either. Wolf, Eli, and ICE quit
also...

Now I'm down to 3 mercs for Day 4... I'ts looking
grim but Ivan, Fidel, and Jimmy head out to try and
turn it around. Enter a new sector and find a large
building with metal doors and bars over the windows.
They approach the building and the shooting starts.
Fire begins pouring from the windows and from the
surrounding area. First Jimmy goes down..then
Ivan screams his last ZXQKXZYQRVGW!!!!!...and
finally Fidel slumps unconscious to the ground......

All is dark..............

Love this game? Maybe tomorrow.......

Just wait till you get to that sector near the middle that has a lot of
trees, and where the jungle is so impenetrable that you have to wade in
the river to move around. You sent Elio around South to scout and he was
ambushed and killed. Bob was so badly wounded in a previous engagement
that his movement points are ridiculously low. Snake and Ivan are in the
van. When you wade to an intersection, your men in the water are caught in
a crossfire. You can't shoot back. You can't bandage. The nearest place
you can land is two moves away, in the direction of an enemy unit. Your
red lines are rapidly turning yellow. Great fun!I wonder why I can't stop
playing this game?...

<chuckle> Yeah, that's my favorite sector. One of the longest
battles in my 20 day struggle with Santino before emerging victorious :)

After the previously described disaster, I had another horror story last night.

After using a day to patch up my troops, I send a couple of guys to pick
up the equipment left on the ground from the previous day's massacre.

The day started with Jack announcing that the price of sap had gone down
by $20 a tree. Darn! Just when I was about ready to hire someone
expensive! OK, so there's a sector at the bottom that has two trees.
Should be a piece of cake. I leave Vinny behind to fix equipment, and send
six mercs including a new guide to the sector. Ivan is armed with the
long-barel 357, and Snake has the newly 100% fixed shotgun with a
telescopc sight. Tex is whistling the theme from High Noon.

As soon as they enter the sector, three of my men successively step on
land mines, and I find myself with all my men reduced to half strength
before I even sight the enemy... OH NO! I forgot to bring a first aid kit!
There better be one in that building.

I rush to the building. Ivan steps in the door. "Ochin opasno!...". He
sees nothing. He moves forward towards a long corridor in front of him,
Tex next to him with Snake and the guide entering the door behind.
Proklyatii!! Two enemies appear in the corridor. Not to worry, Ivan peers
at them through steely slit eyes, grabs a grenade from his belt and throws
it at them. The granade misses the corridor entrance two feet away,
bounces against the wall, and falls at Ivan's feet! AAAARRRGGGGHHH! Ivan
lies dying on the ground, mumbling "Proklyati durak!" through the blood
bubbling from his lips. Next to him lies Tex, gasping sith his last breath
"At least I die with my boots on!"

Allright, you asked for it, you bastards! Snake raises his shotgun. He has
a markmanship of 93 and a telescopic sight. No need to aim and waste
points. He grins and pulls the trigger. Nothing happens. The sonavabitch
is JAMMED! And it was just fixed! Snake is shot four times by the bandits
and crumples to the ground.

When the smoke clears, only Leech and Bob are left. Bob stumbles to the
bathroom and finds a med kit. He reaches Leech just as he is about to
breath his last and saves him. Then he patches himself up.

Just great! I lost my two best shots Ivan and Snake, and the only native
guide who can shoot, not to mention Tex. The only two survivors are my
slowest mercs, and they will now be even slower because they were shot up
so badly.

I wonder if anyone will accept to work for me...
