These reviews call into question the reliability and maybe even the integrity
of CGW.

Seen Maximum PC's review of NHL99? It referred to the Play-by-Play as
"seamless", said it had "merciless AI" and - I kid you not - had
nothing but praise for the fighting. I'm quite sure that pretty much
all of us here agree that the fighting is the most screwed-up aspect
of NHL99, especially in comparison to prevoius years, so the only
logical conclusions are that this guy is on some sort of mind-altering
drug, or is receiving kickbacks from EA. It also completely missed
the AI cheating, along with every other blatantly obvious flaw in
NHL99, and made mention of "deteriorating ice conditions" as if they
actually had any effect on puck friction (or lack thereof), which it
really doesn't. To me, it basically showed just how much naked
stupidity can be forced into one page.
Now that you've been warned, you can avoid that rag.
If I can be so bold to say you might find the reviews in Computer Games
Strategy Plus more representative of your tastes. We have NHL 99 3/5
stars, and NBA Live 3.5/5. I did the NBA Live review, and I did mention
the fatigue problem (and how the game dials out by default).
