are Joe and Derek the same fellow?
Look at the headers : both use the *EXACT* same version of Forte News Agent,
both have IDENTICAL hosting paths, but the ip is different. This could
either be because of their dhcp routing, or because of 2 separate machines.
The other thing is the REMARQ line - not sure of that significance. The rest
is BS <i.e - you put your own organization in>.

But I will make it easier. I personally have nothing against Joe whatsoever.
So, since we both live in New York, Joe, lets meet. If you are a real
person, the beer is on me. We will shoot the shit, and laugh at this whole
farce.
I can meet with you ANY day this week except for monday. I trade from
9-10:30, and 3-4. I can thus meet you for a beer *ANY* other time of the
day.
My real name is John O'Neill <Jack to the world, Jacky to my sister>, and I
am hoping that you arent a figment of Dereks imagination.
I recall you were once going to meet someone else once in NYC - name the
spot, I will be there.
Lets take this to email - jack...@yahoo.com, and we will set it up.
This is going to be so damn good.

Great post Jackyo. This is what I've been saying all along. I've always
had this strange gut feeling Dan and Joe were Derek. I just never
looked into the matter that far.
This could be the next big humiliation for Smart, especially in contrast
to his hypocracy about everyone criticizing him being an alias. In any
case, what's a Usenet kook without aliases?

Well, we shall soon see, I guess.
I usually dont think so, but lately ....

That's nice to know., especially since someone got blown away outside
my Mom's house this past Friday night.

Next week is better for me, preferably a Tuesday, or Wednesday. I have
to host my Mom's Birthday party this week, she turns 65 god bless her.
Also I should spend some quality time, given the, " event " that
occurred 20 feet away from her mailbox. The rest of the week gets
more involved. Since I am not going anywhere, no problem, I'll be
here next week. Free beer always sound good.

An Irishman ? Saints preserve us !!!! Mom is Irish. Dad, well,
that's where the Sicilian baggage comes in, and man does it weigh a
ton.

It sounds like a discussion can be worked out ala e- mail. Lets meet
where my less then genteel, old fart perpetual student persona might
not feel intimidated., especially by Wall street acumen, not to
mention accumulated cash.
Bay Ridge, Brooklyn has a few salt of the earth atmospheric bars that
are respectable. The neighborhood is very nice, Working Class, unless
you travel down to the shoreline by Shore Road ( the Verrazanno
Narrows ), then you have mansions that face Staten Island, and upper
NY harbor. However we generally overlook those, unless we wanna break
into one. Just kidding . This location would mean getting you out to
the sticks though. <g> Seriously, there is a nice little pub there
that I discovered, good cheap beer, along with a very nice
clientele. Almost a Cheers like quality.
I'll e-mail you before this Thursday with some suggestions and
pertinent info.
Joe
He is a jackass. No, I'm a jackass. Why the hell didn't I think of posting
that first...
People are always stealing our ideas man!!!!

This explains everything.

I can just imagine you trying to break into a mansion. Triggering an alarm,
you'd
make a break for the door, running with your pants down babbling as the
floodlights
came on and two K9's chased after you.
- Louis J.M
Wow, where the hell do you live anyway?
She all right?
That would spook me.

That's fine. Where do you work? NYC? Or Brooklyn? I dont get over to
brooklyn very often if I can help it, but I may make an exception ; >
But why don't we make it good and go to Lugers for dinner? That is the only
reason I go to Brooklyn anymore.
But we need to make a reservervation 2 weeks in advance, so let me know
when. I will make the reservations.
Unless you want to keep it simple and just grab a beer?
Let me know.

HEY!
Count me in. I'll buy joe a beer just to see if he is as articulate as he
is literate.
If you want to hang in Bay ridge that's OK, I grew up there, haven't bar
hopped in years.
Is the Boarder Inn still around? It was the only place that gave buybacks.
NYC is OK too.
How about a Met game? There's interleague games coming up, weeknight games
are usually easy to get tickets to.

Oh man, haha, I think that sound you might have just heard is Louis
hitting the floor. Seriously , if you can make it, it would be
interesting to get you on board.
>If you want to hang in Bay ridge that's OK, I grew up there, haven't bar
>hopped in years.
Same here, especially since, and of course you know, the Ridge , at
one time had, ( and since has lost IMHO ) it's very serious
concentration of bars situated within a ridiculously small area. There
are still a number of watering holes, but not like there was. Ah man ,
those were the days. Some vestiges of this still exist, hey no big
surprise, it 's still a heavily Irish, Norwegian, and German
neighborhood.
Where in the Ridge did you live ? Heck, where do you live now that
your able to make this pilgrimage ? I didn't think that you were local
to NYC. Did you go to F. H. H. S. , or to one of those fancy private
schools? I forget what the heck the one located across from Victory
Memorial Hospital, and adjacent to the Golf course is called. It's
the place with acres of land, and the duck pond , next to the Army
base.
Concerning getting on board, I have to get back to Jackyo by
Thursday, in preparation for this coming week. He said he, " might ",
make an excursion to Brooklyn .That would be preferable to me, since
I 'm more downtrodden and destitute then usual. Errr, I am broke/minus
checks, and on vacation. I have zip need to go to Manhattan, if I
can help it., that ALWAYS costs me big money, whether someone says
it's a freebee or not. <g> Also I like to help Manhattanites breach
the culture barrier that exists between the boroughs, real big of me,
yes ? <g>
Bay Ridge, and I'm sure you agree, is a great little area. I wish I
could afford a house on Colonial Road or Shore Road. What more can
you ask for in NYC, then an urban area that resembles a suburban
locale with trees, killer shoreline views of the harbor, and houses
with decent little plots of land, all in NYC . To me this is second
only to the incredible Staten Island homesteads near Wagner College,
and the SI campus of Saint John's U, at Grymes Hill in the Richmond
section. Now that is NYC living at it's absolute best. Mansions ,
with their own in ground swimming pools, and tennis courts , not to
mention, again, harbor views, from the other side of the narrows,<g>
just a bus and ferry ride from Manhattan. Hell there is even a great
little bar in the neighborhood , on Victory Boulevard SI . Did you
ever hear of the Roadhouse ? They serve some wicked drinks, and have
been there for ages. If I could get you and Jackyo to meet me there,
then we could have a great time, err on Jacky's tab .....of course.
<g>
Getting back to Bay Ridge , a few weeks ago, I found a very nice
little pub in the lower 90's on 5th avenue., I got off the R station
at 86 th street, and met my cousin to look for a place to have a few
beers. Right on the corner of 86th and 5th, is the VERY VERY Irish
bar, " the Snook Inn ".
I can hear the sound of one pair of demented hands typing already .
Yes Louis, it is actually called that . Well the Snook Inn is okay,
but way too Soccer crazy . I continued walking on 5th , and found a
place in the low 90's , closer to the bridge, that was evidently so
good, <g>, I gotta get the name from my cousin, ie I don't remember.
Really my kinda place, put the History channel on when I asked for
it, after Wimmbeldon ( excuse spelling ) , was over. One of the bar
tenders is an ex Marine, and we had a grand ole time discussing
weapons platforms etc.
>Is the Boarder Inn still around? It was the only place that gave buybacks.
I don 't remember this place. I might have gone to it all the time
without looking, or caring, those were the days !! WAY too many bars
in that area. I can tell you great stories about Penny Feathers on
Nurses night. Man, a hornier bunch of women I have never met. If we
get together with jackyO, I'll tell you a full disclosure story
concerning this place.
The place I went last week, ie the history channel bar, was incredible
in this day an age. They had, $0.50 glasses of beer, a nice
atmosphere, an okay selection, and gave buy backs like it was going
out of style. Some guy who owned a car service across the street, came
in and bought the entire bar tequila shots. I thought that was cool,
since I never met the guy. <g> Nice way to spend a Wednesday.
>NYC is OK too.
>
Hey I can do NYC, If I have to, I just don't like it much. What can I
say. I'm a product of my environment. Did you ever notice on the
elevated/ above ground Brooklyn subway lines, in the stations, by
the Token booths, they have staircases marked for the two passenger
tracks as , " to the City ", and " from the City ". Hmmm so WTF City
do I then live in ?

night . I gotta get in contact with him before this Thursday, same
with you.

Nah, the only, " women ", in those bars have five o cock shadow, or
are truck driver butch chicks that are SCUM, ( Society for Cutting
Up Men). Now if you could direct me to a lipstick lesbo bar, I might

You know. I COULD. I mean, it's not that expensive, (about $150

Don't you have to be 21 to get into a bar?

You wouldn't have to worry about that. I've snuck into more
clubs in South Florida than I'd care to admit. ;-)

Met Game? Met Game?
YANKEE game, baby!
I didnt know you lived in NYC.
Wherabouts?
Really?
I can understand why some people would prefer suburbs to the big city <I do
myself, and am shopping for a house in the Tarrytown area> but why would you
prefer Brooklyn over NYC?
I was born in Brooklyn, and lived on Knapp street, a few blocks from the
great roast beef place Brennan and Cars.
Tell you what - *THAT* would be reason enough for me to make a trek to
Brooklyn. But lets defintely try to get PJL on board too. We can meet and
get drunk and wolf down some Roast Beef <straight off the spit they take
it - is that place still around?>
ROFL!
That would be pretty funny. I am willing to bet, away from this place,
everyone, detractors and supporters, are pretty decent guys <there may be a
few exceptions to this>.
Hey, has there ever been a female 'player.'
My father went to Poly Prep. I would probably, too, had our apartment
building not burned to the ground when I was 3, and we moved out to the subu
rbs.
Thank GOD for small miracles!

Louis .
LOL , sorry, I HAD to take the shot.
Joe
I only prefer the very suburban, and / or preferably richer areas of
Brooklyn . For example, I had friends I went to High school with that
lived in Manhattan Beach. Man what an eye opener to this poor boy.
They had servants quarters in their 25 room mansion facing Sheepshead
bay, with Salvador Dali Lithos on the wall. It sure impressed this
SOB.
To tell you the truth what I just wrote above is not entirely true.
Wealth, was never a sole factor in my appreciation of certain areas
of Brooklyn , and Staten Island over Manhattan. If it was they would
come in at best, second , or worse. I think I am into a weird , "
what is wrong with this picture ", deal , only on a level that is far
more encompassing ie architecturally, and perhaps sociologically .
For example Borum Hill , Brooklyn Heights , and Park Slope. I love,
these areas , seriously. They, IMHO, have incredible charm.
However, I feel, and maybe this is metaphysically related to just me ,
a world of difference, not just related to wealth , but tangibly
related to a very different sensory/visceral stimuli , that I also
hold in a very high regard, when I appreciate other areas of BKlyn
farther removed from the Manhattan mainstream .
I learned years ago that architecture, and surroundings are very
important to man's, err well, at least my well being. Specifically, I
found the multitude and diversity of architectural, and sociological
conglomerates in NYC incredible. I hence chose / found my comfortable
areas. They usually were areas within the city that most of the
media would not display as the typical NYC locale. Most of rest of
the country/ hell world, thinks , supposes that these areas within
NYC should NOT exist.. ala thanks to Kojack etc.
I once gave a tour to a Greek tourist , and her family, of Brooklyn
, and Staten island that left her speechless that these neighborhoods
existed despite what Hollyshit said was there. It was an incredible
experience to show her Mansions ie Shore Road , along with a fishing
village in Brooklyn ie Sheepshead Bay, and the other Brooklyn Mansions
across the atmospheric foot bridge to Manhattan beach, not to mention
the incredible shoreline there, almost Southern California , in a
microcosm.

Nice area with charm. I met a few girls at the time, that broke my
heart there. Brooklyn Heights , and Boreum Hill always held me in
rapture since I saw the old black and white, , " Arsenic and Old
lace " .... there is a Happy Dale far, far away .....<g>

I haven 't been in that neighb in years , if your driving we can eat
in Boerum Hill , drink in Bay Ridge, and possibly end the night in
Sheepshead bay at Pip's Comedy club overlooking NYC's own
Fishing Village, Sheepshead bay . We can save a ride on the Coney
Island Roller Coaster/ Cyclone , for our , <g> next trip, if you
want !! Captain Walters in the bay used to be an incredible place
also . Bring a camera . The three of us will reach , I imagine , a
quicker consensus about this, then about our mutual Bc3k related
differences no doubt.
All the best

If you're talking about in the flame war, the only female poster that I
can think of is the lady from Elite that popped in for a few days when
the thread was crossposted to elite.

That wouldn't be a bad idea.

I was going to respond to that, but I figured, nah. But since you
did, her name is Laura. She's on irc.vapo.net. Very nice lady.
She got into words with Smart after he started cross-posting to
alt.fan.elite and started talking crap about David Braben and his
games.

I've been there! In 1994 when I took a trip up to NYC to visit my uncle
Al we all went there to eat. (I don't remember if I liked the food or not.)
It looks like a little brick house with plaid curtains 1950's (40's?) stuff
all around inside, right?
That's a rough neiborhood though btw!
