So, Memnoch: how's your first report coming along?

Well?
Bret
PS: It almost looks like csipgs-s is showing faint signs of life. Well it
won't work, I tell you. This froup is dead. It says so in the FAQ.

Well...erm...err....oh yeah, about 5 months or so ago they had a fire on their
roof. I was watching from upstairs and was probably the first to spot it, you
know, since I've been sitting there with binoculars for the last few years and
all! At first we thought it was just buggered air conditioning or something
and then the fire engines turned up.
Other than that nothing to report. And unfortunately I've since left that
company as it has been closed down but at least those developers over there
don't have to worry about me staring at them from across the road any more!
:-)

Heyya Memnoch!
Hmm, do you work for a gaming industry btw? I had a weird notion that you do
(before reading this post, mind you) ;)
Also: WHAT?...fire on their roof? ah man ... i hope nobody was hurt. Well at
least nobody was FIRED,I trust ? :P (lame joke)
Lol, you stared them every day ? I could blackmail you that I will report
you if you don't give me a free copy of Elite IV ;)

Yes, yes: out with it, man.

Well done! Of course, we expect nothing less from csipgs-s's number one
industry spy.

That's the spirit!

Don't tell me, let me guess: you donned firefighter's gear, rushed into the
building, bashed in Braben's door with your fire axe, and made copies of
his development notes?

Oh.

Oh, dear. That's a blemish on your file, and no mistake.

Save the feeble excuses, if you don't mind.

Oh, I think I see what you're getting at: Braben spotted you spying on him,
and realizing your cover was blown you arranged to have your "employer"
shut down as an excuse to relocate so you could continue to monitor the
development of Elite IV from a secure locale .... brilliant!
We look forward to your next report, due some time around 2012. Carry on!

Sadly no. I used to work in IT for a large pharma company, until it got bought
out by an even bigger one run by tossers and all but 10 of us quit or rather
accepted their very generous redundancy offer. :-))
That's too bad about your old company. I hope you landed on your feet.

Elite IV's development arc was one of the minor (but persistent)
side-threads back when this froup was fairly active. The group's raison
d'etre, of course, was ... I forget. I think it had something to do with
Bill Huffman.

Oh ... OK. Just how does one do that?

WHAT? :) Bill Huffman? The guy who DEBUNKED Derek Smart's phony PHD? Are you
sure? :) He rocked ,totaly ,back then...

Dunno, read the FAQ of BC3000 (you will fail ;) ) :P at least you will learn
patience in a ZEN-BUDDHIST kind of way... man, for that garbage one must
become the divine itself.
Why do i keep to bring up DS and BC3k? Because it is a legendary piece of
crap and because i still think DS owns me some money
>Why do i keep to bring up DS and BC3k? Because it is a legendary piece of

I have been looking on and off for a while now for a YouTube review of one of
the BC games and haven't found it yet. Perhaps DS has had it removed? I'm
pretty sure it was A World Apart. Anyway, I visited the 3000AD site to double
check the game name etc. It has to be one of the worst designed corporate
websites I have ever seen. For a professional game developer to use that as
his shop window is pretty shameful. I had a look at the job vacancies page and
there is no mention of web design on there so I guess they are happy!
I have to admire his balls though. Anyone who can continue to release the same
game over and over again and make it sell too really should be in charge of
getting some of us out of the financial mess we are in now. The latest
incarnation really doesn't look all that different than the previous
incarnations. There are some pretty cool looking desert formations and
reflective bodies of water but that's about it.

IIRC, csipg.strategic and csipg.flight-sim decided that discussing
games where you flew around selling drugs and fluffy animals to aliens
wasn't sufficiently on-topic and ran us out of town on a rail. Or
something like that.

The bastards. The least they could have done was run you out of town on a
fluffy animal.

That's how I remember it.
Bret
Please genuflect when you speak that name.

The very same.

As sure as the day is long.

Yes, and somehow he managed to do so without transposing his commas and
spaces.

You are correct -- and I'm happy to continue failing for the foreseeable
future.

Because you are a DS sock-puppet trying to drum up attention?
(Randomly accusing people of being a DS sock-puppet was also a favorite
pastime in these parts.)

Why? Were you a Coke machine in a former life?
Bret
They say Elite 4 is coming and I would like to see it hit the market
but we will probably be waiting for a while... :( There are some other
space sims coming out soon that look interesting like Jumpgate
Evolution and The Black Prophecy. I also just recently started up a
space sim gaming website where I try to do my best to gather all the
info on all the happenings in the great gender. It's been online since
late December and I think it is layout complete and wouldn't mind some
feedback on the site :)
Check it out at http://www.spacesimcentral.com
Thanks

I think you probably mean "genre", but with space-sim you can't be too
sure.
Bret
Thanks for the correction Bret :) I meant genre.
Hey, no problem Mr. One. I see you've also corrected the spelling on your
website. I think that means I can now add "Website Design Consultant" to my
CV.
All kidding aside, good luck with your site.
