Yes, it's an MMO, but there's going to be a big single-player component
which will follow the Wing Commander example. That SP part is called
Squadron 42 for now, and those missions can be played co-op as well.

The rest of the game is an MMO universe with dynamic economy hosted at
public servers. At the same time, players can host their own persistent
universes on dedicated servers. The game is supposed to be mod-friendly,
where folks can design in-game objects and then either use it on their
servers or sell it in the main game universe.

It sounds very ambitious, and basically covers the space-sim genre from
all angles. Some more information can be found at

If this game can successfully combine the mission aspect from Wing
Commander with the freeform exploration of something like Privateer,
then I can't wait!
