I've heard about using runes to bind spells to items, how is it done ?
Do you need a wizard character ?

Any help would be appreciated.

The hard part is finding the rune; I've only found one in 10 full runs
through the game. It requires an 80 magic skill. It seems like rings and
amulets can only have 1 special power or spell; so an amulet of +22 to all
attributes can't be binded, but a plain amulet can. Armor & weapons seem to
be able to have 2 special powers (but only one major special, like
stoning/poison/fast attack) and 1 spell. Anyway, maximize your mana
potential, select the spell you want to bind, right click the rune, then
right click the item you want to bind it to. The item will have (number of
times you could cast the spell) * (mana cost of the spell) mana points, and
will be of the same spell level that you had at the time you binded it.
Example: if you have 550 MP, and use a 4th level Invocation spell (cost: 100
MP), the item would be charged with 500 MP of 4th level Invocation . You
will also be drained 500 MP too. You want to use a wizard, and want to pump
up his mana pool enough to maximize the charges the item has. Allegedly,
this process can fail and you can lose the rune, but I've only heard of this
in the hint book which blows donkeys (pardon my French) as it is very
inaccurate.
I wish you could find runes that would allow you to give weapons or armor
the major specials. A would love to eventually customize a whole suit for my
thief...

I believe the runes only become available at higher difficulty
levels...which means that you have to finish the game once, save your
characters, and then *start over* using the same characters at their higher
levels and a higher difficulty.

At least that is the way I believe it works. I'll never find out for sure
because I got too bored to continue this game at around dungeon level 28.
Fight fight fight die, listen to character whine 'Oh NOOOOO' as her friend
falls over....restore and fight again until both survive...rinse and repeat.

Too dull for words.

Thanks for the help, I'll guess my level 39 sorceress will just have
to keep looking.
