Are there any significant character attribute increasing things later in the
game (permanent increases)? I haven't found jack early, and I found out
that
the shrines can do some pretty nifty stuff, but when I tried (just for the
heck of it) to make a mad dash to Silver Cove for the Personality increase
in
April, I got slaughtered by the creatures there (even when I was just
running
away from them). So if running around like a madman to each of the shrines
long before you're able to handle the monsters in that area is out, are
there
other significant increases coming up? I just ask cause people say things
like, "don't even bother playing the circus games unless your attribute is
over 80." I'm thinking, "80" that's about 4 1/2 times bigger than what I
got
now. I sure hope they didn't expect me to hit all the shrines this first
year, or that I'm not missing something. Just throw me some hope.

Thanks,
Tim

There are lots of barrels lying around throughout the game. Each
(non-empty) barrel will raise one attribute for one character 1 point.
Other than that, I think the shrines are the only permanent attribute
increasers.

However, you will also find rings/swords/etc that increase your attributes
while being worn/wielded. When someone says they need 80 attribute to do
such-and-such, they are usually talking modified attributes, with the
magical stuff being worn.

Also, there are lots of pools for temporary increases that could be used
along with Beacon or Town Portal to get you up for a particular need.

There are quite a few way to increase your stats permanently:

1. Use the shrines. +10 for the first visit, +3 after that.
2. Drink from barrels. Each color increases 1 attribute by 1.
Don't drink the black liquid.
3. Use pairs of black potions. Many black potions give +15 to one
attribute, -5 to another. Using two complementary ones gives +10 to a
pair of attributes. Works only once for every attribute and
character.
4. There are a few wells that give boni to attributes permanently, but
only once for every character.
5. There are a few places in dungeons that give a permanent bonus to
one or the other attribute.
6. The Shrine of the Gods gives a permanent +20 to all attributes.
There is a cheat to go there early in the game. I recommend not
to use it.

Hope this helps,

Werner

wrong.

Well of luck for exemple (in new sorpigal) works as long as you luck is
<15.
It has a limited amount of charges though (~7).
I don't know if the charges come back with time.

All the attribute wells give a +2 to a stat if it is lower than 15. They all
have limited uses, that regenerate once per week (or is it month? I am
uncertain)

I've found wells and fountains that also raise attributes permanently.
There seems to be a limit to the number of times this will work.
However, if you try it again after a few months of game time it seems
to let you do it a few more times. Also, sometimes it seems that it
won't work anymore on a character after that attribute reaches a
certain level. These fountains will sometimes cause damage such
as killing or even eradicating the character that drinks from it.

Other than the "barrels of liquid", and fountains/shrines, you might want to
try your hand at mixing potions. If you combine the right potion types to
get a white potion, then combine that with, say, a basic color like red, you
will get a black potion of strength: +15 to strength permanently, -5 to
intelligence. Other combos will yield different black potions as well.

Pete

So you haven't yet been to Whitecap where there's a well of Endurance and a
well of (might, I think). They only work once. So does the one in
Blackshire (magic resistance) and the one in Kriegspere (elemental
resistance)

In the first year, you might get to the four in New Sorpigal, Mist, the Castle
and Bootleg Bay. Frankly I might have gotten to two or three of them my first
year. The biggest boost for me was the 'Shrine of the Gods' jump people have
talked about on 'good starts', but I was level 12 and had purchased the fly
spell when I did that. Dragons were so thick I left the dungeon for others
to clear up and used Town Portal to get out of there, once I got the +20
stats boost. Died about twenty times before everyone could touch it alive too.
Makes me wonder how the level 1 newbies managed.
