MM6 - Wolf's Lair and crystal data

How do you destroy the altar in the Wolf's Lair? (Obviously I'm
missing something because I keep reading about pearls, chests, and
wall-to-wall werewolves)
Also: I picked up a weird crstal in Darkmoor. Is this for later (I've
completed everything east of BLACKSHIRE (except the Forge).

At the end of one of the 'fingers' of the map, you will find an
apparition on the wall, it will send you to the end of another
'finger' to get the pearl (Its not there if you have not talked to the
apparition. Touch the pearl to the altar and the tunnel in the wolfs
mouth will open. Inside you will find all the wolfs!

Well, there are two rooms off of the wolf mouth entrance. You have to go to
the end of one of them and talk to a ghost. He is imprisoned at the end of
the room in the wall. I believe when you face the mouth it is the room to
the right that you want to go down first. Be sure to read his clue carefully
and do what he says.
