I was wondering what you had to gain by joining a temple guild. I don't
know if they offer anything worthwhile. I noticed that at Kynareth they
offer spells for sale to higher ranking members - does anyone know if these
spells are at all different from ones that can be purchased in the mages
guild ? I'm already in the mages & fighters guilds, should I bother with
a temple ?

It's worthwhile mainly if they offer training in a skill you have
difficulty increasing. For example, Dibella trains in etiquette which is
vital for a Knight. Also, temples offer some different quests (like
exorcisms) and Daedra summoning on different dates from those used in the
Mage's Guild.

Different temples give you access to different abilities. Kynareth is
pretty much just like the mages guild, so it's not really worth while to
join. Arkay's Temple (down in Sentinel), on the other hand, is worth it.
According to the hint book (haven't personally gotten around to getting
enough rep points yet), at level 2, you can buy potions and at level 4(?),
you can make potions. Most of the other temples also offer potion
abilities (except Kynareth), but the access is at different levels with
different skill requirements to join.

Temples sell potions, if that interest you. They also offer
different training from the two guild you mentioned. There are
various blessings and advantages acrrued to members.

Some guilds offer access to item makers so if you got the boot from
the Mage's guild, you have alternatives.

Most (if not all) will summon Deadra's.

And the most important, you get to be called Patriarch if you are good
to the temple.
