I was looking forward to this one but not as much now. Will probably
still buy though.

Divinity II, whilst not being a direct contender to Dragon Age, is
nevertheless going to be in the shadow of that game's PR machine. It's a
very good title, and highly addictive in certain areas. It's not often
that we play through a game until the early hours of the morning, but
this title earned its place on that most hallowed list. Unfortunately,
it's far from perfect. Nothing game-breaking, but there's so many
oddities, annoyances and moments of utter frustration that keep this
game from being as great as it could have been. Nevertheless, there's
plenty here to entertain, and it's not every day that a game can stand
up against Bioware and not be utterly crushed.

IMO its mistaken to compare it to Dragon Age .
Compare to Gothic or Risen perhaps.
Its a rush around cheeful action style @@@

Sounds like a 'wait for a patch or 2 & suck it & see in a few months'...

I agree, which is what I'll be doing too.

Did you ever end up playing DA Nos?

I've had a pretty long break from gaming the last month (and the
computer in general) so with the Christmas rush over I've just sat down
on my new Samsung 23.6" ActiveSync monitor to see what I've got to play
that I'm still interested in.

And the answer is, nothing! Bah, I play game for a few weeks and get
tired of it. I wonder if that's just because the games aren't as good
now days, or I'm just not as big a gamer as I was when I was younger.

Anyway, I can't believe how good this monitor is! I've still got my
faithful NEC 1960Nxi running in a dual screen setup. And I love that
monitor, cost me a bucket when I bought it and it hasn't skipped a beat
for all 8+ years I've had it. Still, comparing the colour and image
quality of the two is like night and day.

Of course now I'm faced with the grim reality that this present (from
the missus) may have opened up the flood gates in terms of additional
upgrades... things just don't run as well at 1920x1080 as they did at
1280x1024 :(

Yeah, got it, playing as a mage, just up to leaving the hut with Morrigan
for the 1st time after all the intro/tutorial crap. It really wants to grab
me, but not sure if it will. I'm finding Borderlands far more fun for a
'quick fix' after a hard day's work, so have been playing a lot more of it
as it turns out.

Welcome to Jadesville. You can checkout, but you can never leave! <EG>

He, he, I was smart & got a rig with the new monitor. But really, a higher
rez/eye candy only gives games a new lease of life for a novelty period. If
you've dropped them & you're anything like me, the chances of actually going
back to any one of them & actually playing a whole lot more (much less
completing them) is very, very small. About the one & only game that keeps
me coming back year after year is D2 (& perhaps GW, but I still haven't
completed Nightfall once, so that doesn't really count). I could list the
games I've started & never completed, but I fear ppl here would throw
e-rocks at me, so I'll refrain :).

I'm working my way through a major backlog of CRPGs with my new computer.
Just finished the NWN2 main campaign a few days ago, now working my
way through MotB. After that, either Drakensang or The Witcher, I
haven't made up my mind. And I should have plenty of time -- I'm off
work until January 4th, and my wife is flying out on Monday to visit
her parents in Tennessee.

I have Drakensang and just can't get deep into it but I bought A
Farewell to Dragons 2 days ago off Steam for $14.99 and it is a better
RPG than Drakensang. A Farewell to Dragons is more like Balder's Gate
series. Combat system is very similar and it is multi-party. I recommend
A Farewell to Dragons over Drakensang.

Well, I already have a copy of Drakensang in my 'to play' pile, so the
money is spent. I might as well give it a try. Your recommendation is
noted, but right now I'm trying to give a serious chance to the games
I already own before I go out and buy more.
