The Temple of Dala to the west of Eldpoint needs a bag of grain. I
met one of the Halfgate sisters, who says she'll give me a bag of
grain if I give her a set of leather leggings. I cannot find any
leather leggings. How do I get them? I've looked all over the
northern parts of the Kingdom, and not met anybody who can help me.
I understand another Halfgate sister will help me, but the only one
I can find is Thea, who just wanted weaponcraft training, and gave
me a crossbow for it. Where (exactly) is the person who can help me
with this quest? Please give precise directions, I can't really use
directions like "She's in a house between Eldpoint and Northwarden,"
or any such vague directions. Still, if there's no other option, I
guess a bit of a minor hint is better than nothing.
Oh, and I'm in chapter 1. Is it possible to solve this quest in this
chapter?
Just me.

I'm having the same problem. If anyone knows the solution PLEASE
post it here or send it to me too.

The sister you're looking for lives in a house on the road between Highcastle
and Wolfram. (Just go E from Highcastle until you see a house on the south side
of the road.) Problem: She isn't at home in Chapter 1. You'll have to wait
and do it in Chapter 2 or 3. (Don't leave it longer than that. From Chapter 4
onwards, you won't be able to get there.)

I just posted it in this thread. Hint: Before entering the temple with the
bag of grain, go to your stats screen, select Defense, and unselect
everything else. Do this for everyone. When you're asked who shall receive
the boon, hit cancel. Everyone will receive it that way. :) (And with defense
selected exclusively on everyone, they'll get about 50% more of an improve
than they would otherwise. Extremely helpful.)
Nope. The other three types, Lightning, Crystalline, and Macros each have a special
attack or power, but Owyn's staff is just a plain old piece of wood. It can be sold
for about 5 sovereigns, I think, so once you get ahold of a lightning staff, toss
it.
>Is Owyn's staff good for anything besides hitting people?
No, but the crystal staff and Pug's staff (or should I say Macros' staff?) serve
very useful purposes.

So when can i give up this obsessive hoarding and just focus on the
adventure? Some guidelines would ease me considerably...i would hate to
have to back up several chapters, or have to avoid doing certain things
just because i was tired of making hay while the sun shined.

Is this enough info? If not repost or write me.

Well stop then!
It sounds like you're on Chapter 4, am I right?
Basically, you do not need that much money. Infact except for saving up for the
odd special item you should spend it on food and restoratives and potions. I
don't think that I ever needed to make an effort to get money, it just kinda
happened. Do as many sidequests as possible and you'll get money and some unique
equipment. If your characters have all got Grey Tower (or if you're far enough
on in the game, Dragon Plate) and they should have swords from sidequests like
the griefmaker and a greatsword (which kick a lot of ass). If you're *really*
rich then go to a good temple (like tith, killian or Linskrama(sp?)) and get all
their stuff level 3 blessed.
If you're gonna need a lot of money the game will give you an easy way to get it
(this happens in Chap5 BTW).
GO buy all the spells that you can find for owyn, some are pretty cool and
useful.

Start on playing the story. As you said, it's obsessive :) And not that
important.
BTW I'm replaying it right now doing all the side quests, I decided to sell
off a load of plunder and ended up with 7K. Unfortunatley when i ended the
current chapter, due to plot twists I lost the whole lot :(

Actually, I think Gorath's base lockpicking skill is higher than Owyn's. I never
bothered with the crossbow myself, certainly not carrying that many quarrels around,
although one bundle of elven or magic ones is useful just in case.
I think the Guarda Revance is already blessed, type 3, at least it always has been
for me.
Restoratives, yes. Make sure you've got lots of bottles of it, you will need it.
A powder bag would be handy as well, if you have one, keep it.
Also, make sure you've got rope! You'll need it in Chapter 9, and getting ahold of
rope after Chapter 6 is darn near impossible.
One final thing: If you haven't yet, scour the lower areas of the Dwarven Tunnels.
In a chest down there somewhere is a spell called Touch of Lims Kragma. It kills
almost any opponent with one casting of it. There's a couple of critters which are
immune to the effect, but everything else is auto-killed. The final battle of
Chapter 9 includes a couple of Dreads, and they're a major pain to take down, but
Touch works wonderfully on them. >:)

The tuning fork does have another use. When you get attacked by trolls, go
into your inventory and use it. It'll ping, and the trolls will run away.

Having said that I don't remember missing very often with that sword.

By the way Neutronium Dragon, have you done everything possible in BAK?
There are a couple of things I didn't get round to doing but can't be
arsed to go back to.
The first is that there is an entrance in a place near the centre of the map.
Slightly west of the Dimwood forest. I cannot remember exactly where it is.
But I can't enter it. It says that there is something magical blocking
it I think.
And I dropped that note that allows you to pass it. Any ideas?
Also, James doppelganger. What effect does it have on the game? The
place where you go into the theatre or meeting place.
Anyway, it's been a good six months since I played that game and I can't
remember the details too well except that itwas one of the best games
that I had played in a long time.
Kalten~!!!
