The forward arrow key works while you're in the air. You can actually take a
standing jump and then move forward after you're airborne. Note that if you
move forward too soon on rising terrain you'll actually shorten the jump by
contacting the ground. If you want to take a running jump using the Jump
spell, select it as your quick spell (the one that is cast when you hit the 's'
key), make sure your sorceror is active, then hit 's' while running. I'm not
sure you get any more distance this way, but it's still handy if you need to
take multiple jumps, to get up a steep hill, for instance. Anyone know if
jumping distance is affected by Air skill?

Ever leave jump spell on as quick spell and hold down "s" in combat? Works
pretty well for dodging incoming missles/spells.
