Hi!

I'm trying to get to Destard (and first to Dawn) via the road from Britain
and Paws.
However, when I get to the burned place (the one with the single hellhound -
I like
my Frost Sword ;-)), I don't find a way to get over the mountains. I've
already
searched for valleys before that place (also was at the place with the 3
arches),
but haven't found any place to pass the mountain range. By zooming out, I've
seen
that Dawn is beyond the burned rocks, but I just can't get over. The
Valorian knight
in Britain spoke of a secret valley to the north, but I can't find that one.
Somewhere I've also heard that I would have to use the Levitate spell to get
over,
but how does it work??? Whenever I cast it, I just get lifted up a little
bit and when
clicking the mouse or pressing any key, it immediately ceases to work, so
that's no
help at all. Or am I doing something wrong?

So how can I get to Dawn and Destard?
I've already thought of doing a Moongate trip to Yew and then taking the
road south,
so I would get to Dawn from the north, but...would this corrupt the game???

Another issue: I've found a crypt high on a mountain over Paws. Is this
important for
the game somehow? And what about this strange mage flying around in his
tower
(also on road to Dawn) - I find a Levitate scroll in his place, but can't
communicate
with him...is that normal???

Thanks a lot
Andreas

That won't corrupt the game. I think it's the intended method to get
there in fact.

No. Just adding colour to the game.

Perfectly normal.

At least as normal as a mage flying arround inside a tower making bird
noises and wearing a horned helm can get.

Have you gotten Lord British to open up the cave that leads north to
Yew?? A little ways up the road, you'll find a cave that leads through.
(If you get to the crypt in the mountain, you've gone too far.) I could
be wrong, but I believe he opens it up after you get back from buc's
den. Hope I was of help..

Joseph Morris also described another way of getting there - do to the snowy
valley near the cave with rogue's treasure (the cave connected to the cave
with valve leading to Paws bridge with a troll).

In the valley, there is a place where you can look down. Climb left, them
jump right, then jump down, and you will be on the road to Yew.

You must be powerful enough to withstand the orc sergeant with an axe though
:-)

As I recall, there are actually a couple ways to "cheat" and get through
the mountains. One behind the castle and there may have been one in the
coastal area east of Britain by where the abandoned fort is. (When
you're travelling to Wrong) I can't remember if I got all the way up.

"Mountain Climbing" was my fav past time in U9, in fact, you can use
items from your pack (potion bottles work well) and place them on a
steep hill, and then, by jumping on the bottles, make you way up!

I just swam all the way, staying as close to land as possible until i found
a beach again haha, not realising you actually had to complete a certain
part of the game to "legally" be there.
I also found some weapons and armour along the way, hidden in small niches
along the mountain shoreline.
