I don't know what I'm missing but I can't seem to find the way out of
the palace. I've talked to Yago, who told me to head to Iona Islands
next. The only possible exit I found is the double door that is opened
on one floor below where Yago is, but I can't cross the yellow line
marking the zone exit. I've also tried leaving through the sewer, but
that doesn't seem to work either.

So, can someone point me in the right direction?

I had the same problem exiting the palace through the double doors when I
played this game. Getting through doorways is a real problem sometimes in
Summoner. Hold down the mouse button and drag your char through the door.
This will also get you into some shops that seem unenterable. The double
door exit in the palace is one of the doors where you have to drag your char
over the threshold.

I'm further ahead than you at this point and have been playing the game for
about a year on and off.. This is one particular aspect of the game that
gives me the shits... ever after the 1.40 patch.. Persevere, there are
also a number of other areas where this bug occurs including the Iona
islands.. The game itself is quite good but can be repetitious ie fight
after fight blah blah blah. Although other skills will come into play when
you are forced to play certain characters later on in the game.. I won't say
what in particular but some of the characters need certain skills built up.
Good luck. Slightly OT but am currently playing Simon 3D.. different
genre but quite a lot of fun and bloody difficult.

Can you say which skills need to be built up without spoiling anything?
Thanks!

I'm playing the PS2 version. I'm currently in the lizard, swampy area in
the southeast. So far I haven't had any of those "stuck on the yellow line"
bugs. There were a couple of quest bugs though. Couldn't complete the
blind beggar quest b/c the apothecary's quest disappeared before I finished
either one. And there was another botched quest that I can't remember right
now...

Overall, it's still a great game despite the minor bugs!

Cay

I just finished the Iona Catacombs. I hope I don't have to return
there. The place was so confusing and the camera angle didn't help
any. It was also pretty dark so it was difficult to see the path. But
yes, all in all it's been a relatively fun game.

It might help a great deal to boost one of your parties stealth and lock
pick skills and stock up on health potions.. (big time). All will become
clear when Joseph is out of the loop..

Where exactly is the harbor district btw? I need to find Drego to give
him the amulet Flece swiped from the palace.

This had me beat for a while... Put simply... The harbor district are the
wharfs to the left of lenele's entrance (ie when you enter town go left)..
go down and ye shall find Drago..

Okay, thanks JL1. I think I've got that under control, as I've pretty much
been trying to develop all of Flece's thieving skills. I will remember to
stock up "big time" on the health potions... sounds ominous! ;)

What a great game this is... and so under-rated... at least on the PS2.
Maybe it is just too PC-like for most console-RPGers. :P

No probs... I'm PC only, could never get the hang of the consoles.. Re
health potions... had I known before I would have had a hell of a lot more
of them.. Now I just have to sneak around and hope I don't get noticed.

[snippety snip]

Check to see if you have the bone sword. IIRC, that should largely solve
your problems :-)

Thanks. Looks like I botched that quest, because Drego is missing.
Some woman is there and she said he has disappeared and suspects that
the King's brother might have something to do with it. The quest has
disappeared from my log too. Oh well.

Since you know the game well, which area is Burca Island? I need to
find a woman who has a sailor's luck charm.

Yeah.. got the bone sword but I concentrated on getting her skills up with
bow and arrow and not sword. I think its at level 1 or 2, so pretty
ordinary and I ain't going back to previous games..

Thank you. Now, I ran into another problem. This time system related.
I upgraded to Windows XP and the framerate just dropped to nil. My
characters run in perpetual slow motion now. There doesn't seem to be
any patch for this so it look s like the end of the game for me :(

Oops! :-) I meant that while it's useless as a weapon, its regen ability is
very useful *between* fights. It's the main reason I managed to get through
that level.

Yowch! That, in a nutshell, is exactly why I stopped playing most PC games,
and bought a Playstation2. :P

I had just started Icewind Dale when I upgraded my computer. I am still
"just starting" Icewind Dale. :( Thankfully, I've got Summoner for the PS2
and it works great -- doesn't even have as many bugs I think, although it
does have some.

Nevertheless, for your problem with WinXP, can you do the following:
Right-click on the executable file and select properties. Then somewhere
there should be a tab where you have a pull-down menu that selects which
operating system you want this game to think it is running under. For
example, you could pull down Win98, and then Summoner will "think" it is
running under Win98, not WinXP. Just a thought...

Oh really? Well, why don't you rack off to a PS2 NG then??? :-p
This is comp.sys.ibm.*PC*.games.rpg - pfft!!!

Nice that you deleted the rest of my post where I offered PC-specific advice
to try to help Dang Tran Vu with his problem, but kept that one line that
must have been so highly offensive to you. I know what newsgroup this is,
and I'm here discussing an RPG that is available on both PC and PS2. I
happen to be playing the PS2 version -- so what?!

What did I ever do to you?!

Thanks, but I've also run into some other problems now. I uninstalled
and reinstalled it, thinking it might help. Now, it doesn't even
start, plus when I try to patch it, I get a message about some file
missing content or something and it stops patching. I've tried
installing and reinstalling several times now with no success.

Anyway, I copied the savegames in case I can continue playing it at
some later time. Now, I started up Soulbringer, another game I bought
a long time ago, but never played. I have several games like that :p

Well, that's sort of ambiguous isn't it?! A wink ;) is clearly humour, but
a tongue :-p could be taken different ways, especially in the context of the
