Is it abandonware or does someone have the rights to it?
Thanks.

If it's not on The Underdogs somebody probably still owns it.

Hasbro or SSI still does, they haven't officially abandoned it yet and
that's why it is not up at Underdogs, but since the 25th Anniversary
compilation, they haven't re-released it.
Unless you are running XP you do not need an emulator. I have seen it
floating around on the net, but your best bet is to ask in the
abandonware NG and ignore the various "It's not abandoned posts!"
you'll attract.
Of course I am assuming you want the DOS version and not the Amiga
one.
Also use Google.

Just for clarification:
Abandonware and software whose copyright is still owned are not two mutually
exclusive states. Unless the software is explicitly added to the public
domain (or equivalent - usually released as freeware - like 'Betrayal at
Krondor' - or open source), it is still owned by someone.
Abandonware is simply a term for software which is no longer sold and
supported by the original copyright holders. Usually, the definition of
abandonware involves a time limit for abandonment, such as 5 years.
Having said that, the C64, NES, and Amiga versions are very easy to find, a
simple google search should list several locations where to find it. The DOS
version is much more troublesome to dig up.

Fine, I'm happy to be shown up, since I have looked on Google with no
result. I'm looking for the C64 version. Got a link?

Get real, I can walk into any book store, any music store or any movie store
and find 10, 20, even 70 and 300 year old "classics" for sale or rent, but
thousands of games before 2002 are unavailable to be bought, bartered or
rent. You can call the companies and they say "We don't sell it, we own the
license, so you can't buy someone else's copy, you can't buy it on ebay and
we will never make it available, so there."
It's total BS. Definition of abandonware is "Company don't sell it no more"
to me, otherwise I think it is in your best interest to buy from a company
that still actively sells it and supports it.
Why give money to CompUSA to buy a box-less, manual-less copy of a game?
That money isn't going to the publisher or developer.
I agree, but I'm just the messenger here. Take it up with ESA:

If not, CompUSA will soon find themselves in court.
