Hey all,

I was one of the morons that pre-ordered the game from Bethesda.
Don't get me wrong...I love the game. It is a great game. However,
for one thing, I have a Cyrix 686 P150 CPU and according to tech
support at Bethesda the game does not play on a Cyrix CPU. It has a
FATAL error that crashes the whole game when you are outside in the
daytime. It plays fine in a building or dungeon at anytime of day and
it also plays fine anywhere including outside and town when it is
night. So being the junkie that I am I do my adventuring at night. A
big part of the game is taken away though and I hope Bethesda gets a
patch out very soon.

One of my major problems with Bethesda though is the fact that they
put out an "exclusive CompUSA" edition with more artifacts and quests.
This really pisses me off. Here I am giving Bethesda business by
taking the time to pre-order from them and I get an incomplete game.
And that is the only way you can say it. If there is another version
of the game out there that has more artifacts and quests and if you
don't have that version then you have an incomplete game. The least
Bethesda could have done was give me the choice of buying the enhanced
game. If I had known they were going to put out an enhanced version
then I would have bought that one. Also for all of you that doesn't
have the enhanced version and you also own the hint book be forewarned
because in the hint book they list every artifact. Well some of those
artifacts might only be in the enhanced version so you might be on a
wild goose chase looking for an artifact that you saw in the book and
you wanted but thanks to Bethesda you will waste a lot of time looking
for it.

For anyone that bought the game at a retailer other than CompUSA, I
urge you to take it back and tell them that you are returning it
because CompUSA has an enhanced version. For any of you that are
chumps like me and bought the game from Bethesda, I urge you to deluge
Bethesda with nasty mail and try and get the enhanced version form
them like I am doing. I seriously doubt that I will ever buy anything
from Bethesda again because of the slip shod way they run things over
there.

Thank you for your time and allowing me to vent. Feel free to e-mail
me with any comments you might have.

Maybe..maybe not..a friend had a comp usa ver and we compared and they
seemed the same.. but I've talked to some other people that confirmed
the enhanced ver.. its seems unbelieviable that Bethesda would do this
though..

NO HE'S NOT. Take the time to actually back up your claims, Crymson! I
too thought this was BS but not only then went to CompUSA and saw the
pretty little sticker but the CD was specially labled and there was a
minute difference of files! While not totalling more than 50-100K the
CompUSA version has about 16 more .qbn files (which are, assumably, the
quest definitions or something). I also agree with his tactic of
returning the Non-CompUSA version immediately. This is not just that I
want the best version or even to help CompUSA (corporate cluelessness in
action) but I hope this will get the E.B.s and the Sofware Etc. of the
world PISSED enough at Bethesda so that they won't pull cheese like this
in the future. I also can't see any reason for Bethesda to make a patch
to update others since the total added files uncompressed aren't even
100K. If this was clearly advertised, especially by Bethesda, I may not
be so indignant, but it wasn't so a lot of people unknowingly got the
lesser versions and now may wish to return them to a lot of places that
don't accept returns.

Call CompUSA and or Bethesda and prove me wrong!

I didn't see the previous post but I have a exclusive compUSA version that
states it has extra quests and artifacts.
Says so on the CD and a sticker on the box.

I can garauntee that he was speaking the truth. I have right here the
CompUSA CD, on the CD at the bottom it says, "Featuring A CompUSA
Exclusive. Free! Additional Artifacts & Quests". You all can call me
a liar if ya want. I guess I was just lucky. All the copies in the
Maryland Heights, MO store were these enhanced editions.

Um, no, he wasn't. I've got the box here. Anyone in Socal can come by and
take a look at it if they want (though it is easier to just stop by CompUSA).
It was printed on the wrapper for the box, and then on the CD.

So, what I'm wondering is this...does the enhanced version of DF have
even better bugs? Oooohhh, that ought to be fun.

to add my 2cents :

bethesda has _confirmed_ that there is an enhanced version for
compusa customers. They'll release a patch when the promotion is
over.

Someone posted the additional quests and stated that he got them from the
compuserve Bethesda forum.
Hope that's no shit (altough the download looks real enough) and that
Bethesda will put it on their pages soon.
