Anyone playing this game? Really hot, quite a thrilling evolution from
the original twenty years ago. I am wondering what people out there
have used for a starting party. I used to have Lord, Samurai, Ninja,
Monk, Bishop, Bard, but now I am using Fighter, Samurai, Ranger,
Alchemist, Mage, Bard.

I would consider dropping the Ranger and adding a Faerie Ninja to make use
of the Cane of Corpus when you get it.

Regards,

Bob

Both parties look OK - you'll be able to finish with either one. Personally I
like
Mook Rangers as they can detect stuff even while running.

Speaking of Mooks, what happens if you have an all-Mook party and go to
the Mook HQ? Does the entire group disappear for a couple of days?

I've been using two Mook Samurais (with two Giants Swords on the front line),
and only one of them disappears when you meet the Mook delegation.

I finished it, with, iirc, a ninja (fairy, of course) samurai, lord,
ranger, engineer, and bishop ... the ranger was a mook, and I forget
what the other races are. You can have a monk, and a valkyrie, for free,
most of the time. You'll miss some amusement without an engineer.

Bishop is ludicrously overpowered, btw.

Sure, for your *second* time through the game take a Faerie Ninja ... but
why base your party on a Spoiler? Am I the only person who actually enjoys
playing games without trying to "Power Game"?

If the Cane of Corpus was not in the game, would you seriously take a Faerie
Ninja?

I've always had a fairy ninja in Wizardry!! Actually for Wiz8 I started
with a fairy monk, but when I found C-of-C, and the android monk, the
swap to ninja was sort of inevitable. There are always =some= items only
a particular race can use.

I had played Wiz6 and Wiz7 MANY times before Wiz8 and had parties to import
that had experienced each of the possible endings from both 6 and 7 ready to
go. I fully expected the Cane to be in 8 and to have its previous awesome
capabilities. I was not disappointed!

To answer your last question, yes, I would have taken a Faerie Ninja without
the Cane, (I have always used one in the past) but would have built up her
throwing abilities for ranged auto-penetration with shuriken and death
stars.

Bob

In wiz 7 the figther was the worst class. In wiz 8 its...the best

Know that the best party may not be the most fun party. I played the game
twice, and i would chose this party within a heartbeat if i had to chose
"the best"

Lizardman Fighter
Lizardman Fighter
Faerie Ninja (yes, only for Cane)
Elf Bard (female! (amulet))
Feary Bishop
Feary Bishop

The rest of the classes are rather weak comparing to these one's: The
gadgeteer was my biggest dissapointment, followed by a samurai (tho this one
gets ok at later levels)

I chose the ranger and the valkyri as sec chars btw
