Arx Fatalis : help with mithril in forge

Please help me make the mithril-koltk thing in the dwarf oven. I put
in the two metal chunks, then the powerder, but the ingot is just
called 'cast metal' and make a normal weapon in the casting machine. I
have also tried to 'use' the powder on the metal pieces in the oven
before smelting, but to no avail.

Please tell me what to do.

Try combining the powder with the metal chunks first, then put the
combination into the oven. Not sure if that's it, but it sounds
reasonable.
