In chapter 2 ... I'm in the Volcano cave, and I've cleared it of
beasts.
Found an exploit that made it fairly easy to do with the crossbow.
All of them fell into the lava below the ledge where I stood.

Now, I find a magic barrier like the one at the Eastern Temple.
At the Eastern Temple, I believe a Mage opened that one, and
then he gave me a couple of scrolls and said I could do it myself
from then on. However, in the Volcano cave, my "Clear Magic
Force Field" scrolls don't work. I haven't spent learning points
on Rune Skills. Is that why ?

I went straight to the city and never got a chance to learn magic so that's
not it. I got all the scrolls I needed to get all the pieces of the armour and
every one opened just fine. Just make sure you are using the right scroll. One
spell is for clearing the red barriers and one for the blue, which is what you
should be looking for.
