Okay, so creating a special "enhanced" version of Daggerfall for one
particular store (CompUSA, for the uninitiated) sucks. Especially for
those of us who bought it elsewhere (I talked the Software Etc. manager
into dropping the price to the CompUSA price so I didn't have to take the
subway down 50 blocks to buy it... I outsmarted myself!).

But, from what I've read/heard, it's only a matter of three new quests and
artificats. So that's not too horrible a loss, it's just that I feel
gipped by Bethesda. As far as i know, there was no word that there was
this "enhanced" version until it actually arrived at CompUSA! At least
then I could have made an educated decision! I also think it sets a bad
precedent. I wonder what kind of kickbacks Bethesda is getting from
CompUSA? They've got to be getting something. Capitalism in action,
folks!

At any rate, I started wondering if someone could simply upload the
different files. I wouldn't think the differences in the two versions
would be THAT extensive; it would be too much work for Bethesda. Maybe
there is a quest data file that could be substituted.

And hey! If so, maybe some enterprising soul could actually figure out
how to design his own quests! Maybe a Daggerfall Quest Editor!
Unfortunately, I don't have the programming skills, or the time to learn
them to follow up on this. Is this perhaps a possibility? Since you can
install the entire game to your hard drive, you can certainly substitute
files. Any thoughts?

I agree, I would have liked to have known that there was another
version.

I read in a new game magazine (I think) that they will post the
"extra" stuff to their web site in a couple of months - but I want it
NOW!!! :-)

I've posted it once before and I will again...I
will NOT buy Daggerfault because of this marketing
strategy....What a crock of shit...Enhanced
version for those that buy at
CompUSA...Hello...not a CompUSA for 150 miles
where I live....

Bethesda.....GET A CLUE.

This is an outstanding idea! I'm not sure that programming skills
matter, since Bethesda didn't get it right, either. ;)

And not to mention the new bugs that player-generated quests might
generate. <Shudder>

Still, one can dream.
