smaller dungeons, and SVGA since fewer things to draw (tough line to walk I
know, but...). Or at least something like 600x400? Quake-type VESA modes

Note that Hal may have thought I was asking if DF itself will be patched
to SVGA (??). I wasn't, but anyway . . . I left shortly after the above
dialogue, Hal hadn't added anything else. I hope we can convince Bethesda
that they can/should reduce the size of the world somewhat, make fewer (but
more distinctive) NPC's, etc., in other words do anything within reason to
allow SVGA to be practicable. My two cents.
I assume Hal comes on the Daggerfall channel, but what server (if
that's the right word): Effnet, Undernet, Dagnet? And is he most
likely to show up at a certain time of day, or on certain days? And is
his nick always HalB so I can add him to my notify list?

Eh...Effnet I'm pretty sure (not Undernet). Hate to admit it, but I haven't
paid much attention to those distinctions in the past, I just try a server in
Virc and either get in or change. Most don't have anything in the server name
itself to designate them Effnet (Undernet is an exception I guess, which is
why I say it wasn't undernet). From my weak understanding, everything that
appears on Effnet also appears on Undernet but not vice versa? That could be
totally wrong...
I've seen him on late (11:00pm or so PST) and today it was around noon PST if
I recall. Yes, his nick is consistently HalB. If you do a /whois, it won's
always say he's from Bethsoft because he occasionally uses another isp. Also,
at times he's in the channel but "not really," if you get my drift. :) Same
with a few of the other frequent folks.

No, what I was saying is that in regard to the statement of "Julian was
quoted as saying TES 3 was going to be a quick crankout." I replied no,
thats not the case anymore because we realized how much work it would
take to do the game in SVGA. Which sums up by this following quote
from above:

And I tried to explain just how much work SVGA was going to take. Now,
the person I was talking to thought that the original schedule for TES 3
would remain the same, the game content would not. That is _NOT_ the
case. As I stated at the beginning of the log, I was trying to say
because of the art scheduling, its very hard to say when TES 3 will come
out because it will be SVGA. And that it will take longer than just a
quick crankout.

Yes, that's wrong. You won't find any undernet users on ef-net or vice
versa simply because it's two different and incompatible nets.

It was a courtesy convention started for those of us who don't want to
wade through the Daggerfall posts. BTW, you now have a newsgroup
dedicated to the game.
