I'm not too far into the game, I don't think. My party is at
level 13 right now. I've just cleaned out the Dwarven Barrows.
I tried to tackle the Haunted Mansion but the swarms of ghosts
are a bit too much for my party. I need to upgrade to a few
experts I suppose...
Anyway, the main point of this post. I ventured into
Bracada Desert. What a maze!! Teleports everywhere! I don't
have Fly or Jump, so I have to rely on those. I stumbled into
the School of Sorcery and got a promotion quest for Wizards.
Good, I thought. I wandered around the school and intuition
told me that there has to be "more" to the school. Lo and behold,
I found the secret button and opened up the secret door.
Unfortunately, like Castle Gryphonheart and Lord Markham's
Manor, you get a generic guard telling you to go away.
So I saved my game, and tried to "brave" through the
many wizards that turned "red" on me when I tried to enter the
backroom. Before I finally died (I lasted only for a minute or so),
I saw a "Sylph" and some levers. Pretty interesting.
Now I know clearly that my party cannot survive the
onslaught and I do want to promote to ArchMage or Lich.
The question for those who finished the game: Are there any
special treasures hidden in the backroom of the school? Are
there any quests that allow me to enter the backroom "safely"?
Will I need Invisibility to sneak inside?
Jump _WILL_ do it! And I never took more than three tries.

Eh - took all of about a minute for me to get up there and get the
good head, and I -still- have never used fly of any sort. Actually,
I find it kind of pathetic how easily you can catapult yourself up
almost any precipice or cliff using the jump spell. (Albeit I'd
_hate_ having to track around looking for footpaths even more.)
All you do is set Jump to the be quick spell, walk up to a wall and
keep the forward cursor arrow down and cast Jump. You bounce up a
fair ways, you don't slip down because of the forward arrow being
pressed, and you wait for the mage to recover and be able to cast
jump again. Easy.

Note that if autorun is on, then spell recovery times are *much*
longer, so you will slide back down before you can cast again.
With autorun off it is very easy to jump to where the chest is.
jump does it as far as i can tell..

Have any luck Jumping/flying to the top of the Volcano at Nighon? There are lots of treasure there, but I can;t get to them.....what a bummer......

Start from the misc, shop side of the mountain and do the jump quickspell
thing. You run at the mountain while waiting to recover.
