I'm just trying to finish this game now and have a few final questions.

I'm at the last (I assume) battle in Thyraxus but first I am forced to
fight like 15 level 8 fighters. I can't do it. I tried all night and I
just
don't even get close, never mind have enough spells /health left
over for Thyraxus
Can anyone suggest a decent strategy, I often get in a rut as far
as spell use goes and don't always try new things.

My Party has ( best guesses)
Dwarf - fighter - level 7
Halfling -thief - level 7
Elf Magic User - level 6
Human Cleric - level 6
1/2 elf fighter/cleric 6/6
1/2 elf fighter/mage 6/6

Fire balls just don't seem to do enough damage to these
guys (who have 80 + hp each)

Also,
Would people reccomend I import these characters into Hillsfar and
play that first, or go straight to Curse of the Azure Bonds.

Fireballs are not worth it against them.
Try hold person from the clerics, and stinking cloud
from the mages.
And before you kill the last, cast haste to be prepared
for Thyrantraxus.

One thing to keep in mind. Since this is the last battle, pull out all the
stops. Any potions, etc. you have saved up that might help, now is the time to
use them.
Have your party rest and memorize spells specifically for this encounter. Haste
will be a big help here. I have found it lasts long enough to help in both
halves of the battle. Spells like prayer are very useful. Every little bit
helps. Cast every preparatory spell you can think of to make your party
stronger. Hold spells are useful during combat. If it works, that's one guy
down right away. (You should have plenty of hold spells with two clerics.)
Concentrate on taking out one guy as opposed to injuring all of your opponents,
although if you can hurt enough of them with a fireball, that's probably worth
doing as well.

I didn't care for Hillsfar at all, so I would recommend going straight to
Curse.
Cool, cool

DON'T import them into Hillsfar.

If you do, then when you later import them into Curse of the Azure Bonds, they
will gain levels as their new XP total dictates (possibly several), but they
will not gain any HP for those levels.

If you want to play Hillsfar, then finish Curse first, getting all characters
to max level there, then import them to Hillsfar and play it.

Afterwards, you can send them back to Curse, save them there, and then import
to Secret of the Silver Blades.

When I posted this question to the groups some time ago the best advice I
got was to use the Dust of Disappearance -- which I'd completely forgotten I
even had. With the dust, this battle is a cake-walk. Otherwise, I suggest
just the standard big battle tactics -- cast all your defensive spells (make
sure to cast Haste) before the battle, hack away, and make use of their
stupid formation to make the most of your lightning bolt spells.

I suggest you skip Hillsfar altogether. I was playing from that Forgotten
Realms archive, and decided to give Hillsfar a shot, since it was there, and
I couldn't even play 30 minutes of it without getting bored. Not much of an
rpg, that one.

Before combat starts,
cast Bless, Prayer, Haste, Protection from Evil
(Don't even memorize Fireball/lightning bolt)

Combat round 1: Have both mages cast Stinking cloud
on the fighters closest to your party
That should probably hold a couple of fighters and
also block some squares so that the fighters cannot
reach you.
Have both clerics cast Hold Person. Each spell can
target 3 fighters. So, depending on how the
fighters are lined up, you will catch 3 or 4
in each stinking cloud spell. And 6 fighters will be
targeted by Hold Person spells, that's 12-14 fighters.
Probably about half will fail their saves...that
means 6-7 will be helpless...leaving only 7-8 fighters
for you. Your hasted dwarf fighter should be kicking some
butt, and your thief should try for the backstab...hasted
will mean 2 backstabs!

After the end of round1, you should have everything well in
hand.

I remember this battle, and after the first round, there were
only about 4 fighters still moving. At the end of the 2nd
round, there were no fighters moving...

Then when you kill the fighters, do not end combat until you
have cast anymore spells. If you have dust of dissapearance,
then use it...

That reminded me of my party's battle against Tyranthraxus... I wasn't
sure whether to be happy or upset at the end.

I had picked up a wand of paralyzation along the way and used on Mr.
Lizard. I figured it wasn't going to work, but gave it a shot anyway.
To my astonishment, he was paralyzed, and the next lucky character
killed him in one hit. I was pretty stunned, and thought to myself,
"well, I guess I won...". It was a cheap shot, though. :)

Use the dust of dissapearance and haste beforegoing through the door for
battle.
Unfortunately this is not a good party for use
in the sequals due to level limitayions on demi-humans the only one that will
be useful
is your thief which has unlimited advancement. The rest will be limited to
maybe a max of tenth level.
