Here are the locations of the three parts of Kangaxx (ie. the location of
the crypts):
1. Head = in building between Mae'var's thieves guild and the inn in the
docks district, downstairs.
2. Torso = in second to last building (IIRC) on the southeast side of Bridge
District. This building also contains another door that brings you to
unrelated but very interesting area.
3. Legs + arms = after going down into sewers, you must travel over to the
old sewers (to the Unseeing Eye part, where you meet the cult members). You
must have received a key from the Unseeing Eye Cult member named Gaal in
order to open the door just down from the entrance/exit of this sewer area
(accept the quest he offers you). If you don't get the key from Gaal, you
cannot enter the area, and the crypt will be closed off from you. Gaal
should be located in the southwest portion of this sewer area, after heading
through a circular room with vault-like doors and a lock wheel in the center
of the room.
You can use a cheat command to move past the door if need be. Here's an
explanation how:
First, open the Baldur.ini file with Notepad (or your favorite text editor)
and look for a heading labeled [Program Options]. Under this heading, type
"Debug Mode=1" and then save and exit. Start your game as normal and, once
you're in the game, press the key combo CTRL+SPACEBAR in the main program to
bring up the console line and type "CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys()" to get
the cheat keys to work (Press ENTER afterwards). CTRL+J will then allow you
to jump to the location of the mouse cursor (have full party highlighted).

I missed earlier posts on this topic, but I guess that you're looking for
a part of the Golden Skeleton for Kangaxx.
There is the first part of the sewers -- a sort of circular radial thing,
with a door to the northwest. That leads to the second part of the sewers,
which has the cultists somewhere down south and west. When you speak with
the cultists they will give you access to the underground to get a rod.
Once they give you access, a door becomes open in this map, a short
distance to the west of the map's entrance. This was the door that you
probably had trouble picking. When you go through the door you will speak
to rogue cultists, and immediately next door is the Kangaxx tomb. It's
impossible to miss.

As far as I know, the only way to get the key is to have Gaal give it to
you. Sorry.
