Cheers Andrew, nice trip down memory lane. Mind you, there's probably only
10 games in all those lists I played right through (some many times) which I
would consider all time classics/greats, FO1/2 being at the very top
probably. CM Rally/TOCA, Quake 2, Starcraft, X-Com 3 (eh), Diablo, Jedi
Knight, Sanitarium, Stars!, Duke Nukem 3D <G>...they're the only ones worthy
of mention in my annals. ;)

for me 1998 was year of the Age of Empires.
That was no-nonsence Microsoft's attempt to enter into PC games realm,
and they did it with blazing guns and smoke :))
In the end of 1997 they opened free Dwango (Game) Zone to support multiplayers,
implementing smart rating scheme. Few monthes later MS invited top (by the rating)
players to showdown tourney in Seattle paying for all expences naturally.
The champion ('maimin_matty' - guy from Holland) was prized with a Viking Helm, no kidding.
Top five were proposed jobs in MS as beta-testers. The guy ('sheriff' from USA, 2nd place), that took
position, joked later in the Zone about being paid for playing games all days long. :))
Very romantic yet serious times :))

I only consider to play through Heretic/Hexen series 1st time. (Along with Blood games.)
Or maybe I just replay Outlaws. :)))
