****************************************************************************
This Journal is a bit uneven but I just sort of wrote as I went through the
game for the fourth time about a year after the game came out. I started
out wanting to write it as if I was one of the four, and as if they'd gotten
their own "how-to win in under a month" instructions but I wasn't consistent
and it has been made worse by additions I've made to explain things better.
It was done in reaction to the win by February document. I barely managed
to win in January, but I killed EVERYTHING and did EVERY quest, in order to
get the highest fame. Another person in the CIS Gamers forum managed to win
by mid-January, but she had a much faster computer than I and could reload
and replay faster and I don't think she bothered doing all the quests or
killing more than necessary to achieve an objective. On the other hand, I
might not be remembering correctly.
The characters were preconstructed to get the maximum hit points and spell
points possible at the beginning and taking into account full knowledge of
the location of the +2 stat improvement wells that don't work above 15/16
and knowledge of how to make the Essence potions right away. Of course,
using the +2 wells meant passing up stat raising barrels, alters, etc. until
after 15/16 had been reached. I may or may not have used all of them as a
result.
The +30 level well was used ruthlessly, as was the fact that no promotion
was necessary to use Fly, Town Portal, Lloyd's Beacon, Meteor Shower, and
Starburst, so they could be used from the start. Sparks and Shrapmetal were
used in their intended fashion: at point blank range like a sawed off
shotgun. Well, Sparks also worked well in corridors and small rooms from
the doorway. With a lot of the early ones, I did not record how the
monsters were finished off, but you can experiment. Lastly, the ICBM trick
was used as much as possible. That is where one in real time targets
something far enough away that the warning icon is still green and then hits
the hotkey for the default spell. The key thing is that the default spell
is either Meteor Shower or Starburst. In real time the spell won't fizzle
and the enemy will be sitting ducks by being bunched up and not moving. You
have to target right on the spot with the cursor over some enemy so it has
an identifier string showing underneath the 'window'. Also, the targets
have to be on the ground, or flying just above it, otherwise they won't take
damage from the bouncing meteors or stars. I suppose I could have done this
without ICBM, but it would have taken longer, both in game time and my time,
particularly in the really difficult outside areas, like Dragonsand,
Paradise Valley, etc.
Another thing: in some tricky spots, it is advantageous to run at top speed
to key spot and then switch to turn based to force the enemy to go one at a
time. The Cavern and Cathedral rooms of Castle Kriegspire are such places.
In fact, when not flying, always run over already cleared areas. It will
save a good bit of time.
The journal doesn't mention it, but the chests in New Sorpigal were
frequently used to hold items if the backpacks filled up before the shops
opened. By accumulating items to a great degree, I made each swapping of
spellmaster/mystic for merchant/duper and back still pay for itself. That
Free Haven had both duos not far from each other makes me think the game
developers had this sort of thing in mind. The CompuServe Gamers Forum RPG
library already contains my list of locations for NPCs that reside in houses
and are always available. Before being able to get to these, one must just
keep reloading in an area and checking everybody until you find the NPC you
want, like the gatemaster used to get to Free Haven on January 2. Same
thing with spell books, except that you save before entering the first time.
After getting access to merchant/duper with a merchant expert PC, one can
buy out guilds to force restock in two days (and sell unneeded books to
alchemist shops). It is also assumed that anybody using this journal also
has all the area and dungeon maps available at web sites. One good one is
www.the-spoiler.com/RPG/New.World.Computing/might.and.magic6.3/mm6.htm.
Because of some key mistakes I made, you may want to read this through first
before starting.
This all assumes that there are any gamers still wanting to play through a
whole session of M&M6 at this point. Maybe there are, because even though
the changes made to prevent this sort of play in the following M&M games
made them more real, there was just something awesome about playing M&M6 in
mighty munchkin mode.
January 1
09:00 Start out in New Sorpigal with 3000 gold in rings, 3 flame arrow, 1
remove fear, and 4 clubs as assets.
Roderick the Cleric - M5 I7 P25 E20 A9 S5 L13 28 hp, 28 sp
Alexis the Sorcerer - M5 I25 P7 E22 A5 S13 L9 30 hp, 28 sp
Serena the Sorcerer - M5 I25 P7 E22 A5 S13 L9 30 hp, 28 sp
Zoltan the Sorcerer - M5 I25 P7 E22 A5 S13 L9 30 hp, 28 sp
Some people swore by four sorcerers at the time we were searching for the
optimal party, but I always felt having one cleric was vital. A cleric
provides all the healing necessary when the temples are closed, especially
in the middle of battle, but also in general after the Fountain of Magic is
accessible. A cleric can cast all the spells that sorcerers cannot cast,
particularly telekinesis which was used extensively. Finally, a cleric is a
better warrior than sorcerers and so makes the natural one to put in front.
As for skills, I'm not certain what I chose. They had the mandatory fire
for the sorcerers and mind for the cleric, of course. Obviously I did not
chose bow, since I mentioned wanting to buy the skills and bows later on.
Likewise learning and leather which are bought later. I didn't chose any of
the other available initial magic skills because all were available at New
Sorpigal. I'm sure I bought at New Sorpigal all of the remaining elemental
skills for the sorcerers and clerical skills for Roderick (having to spend
extra money early mattered less in this supercharged version). May have
gotten merchant skill if that was necessary to get help from merchant/duper
NPCs. I think I got mace for the cleric and dagger for the sorcerers
because mace wasn't available in New Sorpigal. Since I wanted to bump spell
points as much as possible at the beginning I likely chose meditation. I
certainly didn't buy it in New Sorpigal.
09:02 Received 1000 gold from Andover Potbello for showing him the letter.
Got Candelabra quest
09:11 Have gone around the east side of town getting guild memberships and
the Angela and Spider heart quests. Drank from +10 might fountain.
09:14 Refilled at temple after Wizard Eye and Meditation on the sorcerers.
This will be a standard practice of casting improvement spells at the temple
entrance and then buying healing to max out hit points and spell points.
09:18 Took the maximum 8 sips at +2 luck well. Roderick, Alexis at 15 luck,
Serena, Zoltan at 13.
09:46 Fought goblins around bridge near Goblinwatch (GW). Took food from
trees. Cleared both chests and herbs south of bridge which brought down
goblins from GW.
10:00 After refilling at temple, received GW and Sherry quests and a Huge
Spider bounty from town hall.
10:53 Cleaned GW chest room out of Goblin King, 4 Goblin mages, and other
assorted Goblins.
11:38 Filled up at temple and cleared out goblins and mages guarding
entrance of Abandoned Temple (AT).
11:52 Used remaining spell points to clear out first group of bats.
12:43 After jumping river to avoid goblins that suddenly appear on the
bridge, refilled at temple, killed goblins on bridge, then second group of
bats in AT. Then killed King cobra and 4 others in west room just north of
entrance.
13:21 After refilling, killed 5 other cobras in west room of AT.
13:35 Killed huge spider and 2 others in south room west of west room.
13:59 After running to get fly scroll from south wall of bank and using it
on Serena, flew to GW. Ran to chest room, opened chest with GW code. Banged
up everybody. Ran out, and flew to town hall to get bounty of 1200 and GW
reward of 2000. Then healed at temple.
14:15 After hiring locksmith, cleared rock chest NE of healing temple.
Cleaned out chests on Gharik's Forge Island. Cleaning out protected chests
can be done by flying straight over them in real time and dropping straight
down and then opening in turn based.
14:23 Cleaned out three chest in goblin camp NE of dock. Picked up two
herbs.
14:28 Cleaned out chest on water master island.
14:37 Cleaned out chests in mage camp SE of dock and picked up all herbs.
14:41 Cleaned out chest by dock and picked up herb.
15:00 Cleaned out other two chests in room where GW code was found.
15:20 Cleaned out throne room of GW (taking door opposite entrance then
turning right), hit switch to reveal hidden doors. Went through hidden door
that is on right when entering throne room. Cleaned out chest without
fighting by clicking on it when it comes in view.
15:30 After healing, cleaned out chests in front of AT.
15:50 Killed first snakes in candelabra room, then avoid others while
opening chest. Roderick and Zoltan rendered unconscious and required healing
at temple.
15:56 Fired locksmith, hired duper and merchant to get 77% of sell value and
pay only 44% over best buy value. Sold all alchemist stuff.
15:58 Sold all weapons and armor. This turns out to be a mistake as you will
see. (Addendum: not quite sure why I thought it was a mistake, except for
the bit below about upping Roderick's merchant ability. Saving the alchemy,
weapon, and armor stuff in the New Sorpigal chest/boxes until then would
have meant a bit more money early on.)
16:23 Got all herbs north of healing temple and self guild, got horseshoes
from volcano, read obelisk there, flew back to town and gave candelabra to
Potbello.
16:50 (After spending 1-2 hours reloading) Finally got the elemental guild
to cough up 3 sparks, 2 poison sprays, 1 fire bolt.
Also hired explorer (after a number of reloads) for trip to Ironfist.
Unfortunately, the time is already too late. Cannot do both of the following
(can only do number 2, which will be explained more fully further down):
1) Coach to Castle Ironfist, give up letter for reward, buy skills and bows,
hire Gate Master, town portal to Free Haven.
2) Enter north Free Haven sewers, fight rats, get key and gold, get and sell
stuff, buy spells, and then still catch coach to Kriegspire without waiting
days.
Therefore will rescue Angela and do more of GW before gating to Free Haven.
Prefer rescuing Angela anyway. Never could understand how she was supposed
to last many days in the AT, as would happen for those who go to Ironfist
before doing that quest. Also, the additional money and the bow skill
didn't turn out to be crucial for the early going.
17:07 After drinking Essences of Intellect, Personality, and Endurance
(since everybody past the well limit in these already) and refilling to push
spell and hit points higher, hired mystic. Should have hired before filling
at temple, since mystic also makes Wizard Eyes, Meditation, etc. last
longer. In fact, having a Spellmaster/Mystic team will be crucial to a fast
conclusion, as will, to a lesser extent, be the Duper/Merchant team used
previously.
17:45 Cleared out rooms before and after the GW doors that are opened by GW
code, then refilled.
18:45 Cleared out room past hole (not sure, but probably in GW), then got
lockpicking skills (and maybe some others) at Buccaneers lair, refilled at
temple. Back at GW while Fly peters out.
19:40 Cleared chests in that last room then cleared double room leading to
the caverns. Then refilled and went to the AT.
20:50 Cleared out cobras in candelabra room and spiders opposite huge spider
room. Cleared out bats down to cavern.
22:47 Cleared out bats and spiders down to and past room with sparks
protecting chest. Cleared out chest. Did some of those in room past that
room. Almost to Angela.
January 2
00:49 Cleared out all in room past sparks, gathered treasure, went into
curved room for Angela, went down past door in that room to room with
hanging cages for loot. May or may not have taken anything from trapped
central cages. Then returned to heal and take Angela home. Hired a
gatemaster to town portal to Free Haven (FH). After drinking from +2 might
well and picking up horseshoes, Alexis became water expert for 1000 gold.
This is vital since, shortly after this, having a beacon that lasts more
than a couple hours is absolutely necessary.
01:50 Fought rats at north entrance to Free Haven sewers. At quasi-four way
intersection, went west. Stopped at first northernmost (rightmost while
facing
west) grate for 4 blue potions, went around corner to northernmost in the
next
series of grates for key and 8400 gold. Got the gold by repeated clicking
on holes in grate, saving after each, and stopping and reloading when the
trap is finally set off.
02:13 After going out to heal at fountain and not finding burglar, came back
to room, opened chest, all survived trap explosion (after a number of
reloads), gathered loot.
06:10 After hiring duper and merchant, sell stuff and buy herbs from general
store.
06:45 Ran to apprentices near Council to get memberships, which should have
been done during the night, but doesn't matter. Bought (at 44% markup) 2
Lloyd's Beacons, 1 Town Portal. May have made a mistake, or at least an
unfortunate choice. The extra horseshoes were given to Serena to start
making her another water expert like Alexis. But after that got a brainstorm
that meant that it might have been better to give them to Roderick. That way
he could be closer to reducing the markup to zero. (Still later decided that
a cash shortage at the beginning might be less of problem than the fact that
a perception expert is absolutely necessary to move freely in the Superior
Temple of Baa. In other words, the Superior Temple could be done before
training if one has become a perception expert via horseshoes.)
07:20 Set a beacon at the entrance of the Temple of Baa SW of town, after
running though arrows. It is possible to do this without being hit if one
is running at top speed and heads straight for the entrance from the right
direction. The healing Temples of Baa are very cheap and receiving healing
has no effect on reputation. It is ironic that they will help in their own
swift downfall by providing the only healing available in Free Haven before
the real temple is repaired (when the regular temple was restored and money
was no longer a problem I switched, but didn't record when). Afterward Town
Portaled back to Free Haven. Hired a Horseman and an Explorer (which was
unnecessary since the Horseman sufficed), then went to the Stables in SW
part of town, to take coach to Kriegspire.
January 3
07:22 Everybody drank from Kriegspire +30 level well. Everybody's hit/spell
point potential went to 96/124. Serena sets beacon. Could do so since coach
ride gave automatic rest which set the hit and spell points of everybody
back to normal without temple healing.
07:24 Alexis beaconed to Free Haven baa temple, everybody filled, Serena
beaconed to Kriegspire, Alexis set beacon, portaled back to town.
07:47 Fired NPCs, then hired carpenter and stone cutter in houses in NW part
of town and took them to Free Haven temple. This is for the Cleric to
Priest promotion, and fortunately is still effective even if done before
getting the quest. Hired duper and merchant in that part of town and ran to
the Air Guild. Bought Fly.
07:49 Bought Acid Burst at Water guild to give Alexis (who is also the fly
caster) a hard hitting aimed spell to finish off those weakened by Meteor
Storms.
07:51 Bought two Meteor Storms at Fire Guild.
08:00 Sold two fine rings, two sparkling rings, two remove fear scrolls, and
awaken at north Free Haven alchemist shop to get over 3000 gold to hire
spellmaster and mystic and afford healing.
08:02 Back in Kriegspire....flying to Castle. Yes, storming Castle
Kriegspire at level 1. That was the brainstorm mentioned above. This
Castle has always been surprisingly easy at higher levels, so there is a
reasonable shot at collecting its cache of horseshoes which are far more
valuable at level 1 then they are later on. Doing this actually brought
back the thrill I had in my second game in rescuing Melody Silver at level 1
without the well, but with bows, an ice bolt wielding water expert (via
horseshoes), cold beam, the long steep ramp at the entrance, and the Mist
healing temple to use as assets.
08:47 Have finished the guards outside via ICBM. First the first ones
guarding the road up from the plain below, then flying to the south lip of
crater and taking out guards in front of the castle, then those behind on
the northeast, then those on the road on the top of the crater wall north of
the castle, then the northwest guards behind castle, then finally those on
road west of castle. Done this way to keep from activating those not being
attacked, so they'll be ready to be attacked next. Made a number of trips
back to Free Haven Baa temple for reloading.
09:23 In outer chamber of the castle, took out two minotaurs and two
minotaur mages one at a time using Acid burst, poison spray and sparks at
point blank range. As with outside, made trips back to Free Haven for
healing after killing each one off. Good thing there wasn't a Minotaur
King. Cleared out chest except for money, which will be done with
banker/factor later. All chests in castle will have money left alone for
this reason.
09:45 Cleared out 3 chests past corridor with minotaurs behind grates, using
horseshoes to raise Serena to 4 in water. Got the Jeweled egg.
09:50 Claimed the 5000 gold and 50000 experience for the jeweled egg.
09:57 Made Serena a water expert in Free Haven.
10:45 Defeated 6 Minotaurs in first slit room, largely using sparks through
the slit as well as mace and dagger.
11:00 Defeated Minotaur and Minotaur Mage guarding route to cavern room
11:10 Collect 2 items from alcoves on corridor to cavern room, 30000 gold
from two torches, beaconed to FH for healing, and back to circle hallway
where the beacon had been set earlier. The torches with the money are the
ones farthest from the door into the cavern room, but still on the same side
of the chasm as the door. The best way is to run to the one on the right as
fast as possible along the wall, go to turn based, touch it for 15000, then
run back to door. Only a few drakes get activated and will be furthest away
as you run now to the torch on the left, go to turn based, and touch it.
Since nearly all drakes are activated, will take some damage before beacon
caster can cast, but money is well worth the trouble.
11:17 Collected 4 horseshoes in open, and 1 in chest, along with some items
(forget which room).
11:32 Heading for Cathedral room after having pressed switch in room
upstairs in center of the four two story trap rooms that drop creatures on
you if you enter. DO NOT go into any of those four rooms for any reason.
Got to cathedral room taking the long secret path.
11:38 Set beacon outside cathedral room with drakes. Beaconed and town
portaled back to Free Haven.
11:43 Made Roderick merchant expert, fired spellmaster/mystic, hired
merchant/duper. Selling at alchemist guild.
11:46 Sold off magic items, weapons and armor. Kept enchantable stuff.
Bought Bow, Body building, chain, shield.
11:55 After getting cleric guild memberships, bought out water guild to have
it restock. Got enchant item, Lloyd's, poison spray, protection from cold.
Will sell extras to alchemist shop at 99% of same price.
12:02 After buying out fire and air guilds, sold at alchemist, then bought
Telekinesis, Mind Blast, Cure Insanity & Paralysis at Mind guild.
12:08 Bought Speed and Cure Wounds, Poison & Disease at Body guild; Bought
Heroism and Raise Dead at Spirit guild. Down to 784 gold, so must sell ring
of alarms before hiring Banker/Factor.
12:13 Beg Banker before hiring, had to bribe Factor twice because first
attempt was messed up. Gold is down to 124.
12:43 Collected all left behind gold and bodies. Telekinesised horseshoe
though slit.
12:47 After casting speed and removing weapons to make Roderick go first,
ran into cathedral along left side to point where the chest could be made
out. Took some drake damage. TKed trap without damage. Beaconed to Free
Haven for healing.
12:50 Repeat previous but this time telekinesis opened it. Cleaned out
chest.
13:00 Beaconed to front, went through barred way (by having flipped that
switch upstairs as indicated on most MM6 maps of Castle Kriegspire), got
Roland's letter from cage, opened and cleaned chest, left memory crystal
since no experience credit can be claimed for it until the Oracle is seen.
Will pick up when ruining rep for Dark Mastery.
13:10 Starting cleanup of outside.
13:25 Finished cleanup of outside. Now at 45200 gold.
14:07 After ditching Banker/Factor for Free Haven Spellmaster/Mystic, killed
archers around Temple of Baa and Ethric's Tomb, and all mages around SW mage
camp, all with ICBM while flying around. Looted the two chests.
14:13 Made Zoltan a water expert.
15:21 Cleared out sewers from north entrance to Prince of Thieves room. Set
beacon for later quest collection. Prince of Thieves isn't there until
quest is given.
15:48 Cleared out good bit of eastern portion of sewers.
15:57 Enchanted all that could be enchanted before firing spellmaster/mystic
and hiring merchant/duper. Cleared out all cleric guilds and sold spares to
alchemist guild along with other stuff
16:01 Sold armor and weapons at armory shop and bought herbs at general
store. Made four luck and three speed essence potions.
16:24 Fired merchant/duper and cleaned up rest of Free Haven archers and
mages.
16:32 Hired Gate Master and Spell Master. TPed to White Cap. Set Beacon at
Temple. Flew to stables. Raised Alexis to three in air magic with
horseshoes. Beaconed to Temple, recast fly, refill, fly to Castle Stromgard.
16:51 Visited Stromgard. Killed three fire archers there one at a time with
poison spray and melee.
17:00 Killed three harpy groups to clear route over mountains (with ICBM
since harpies on top of mountain fly low enough for it to work). Visited
Lord Stone to get Free Haven temple quest, went outside, then went back in
to get Roderick promoted, who received a sizeable boost to hit points and
spell points. After leaving again, set beacon.
17:05 Beaconed back to White Cap Temple to raise rep to respectable.
Beaconed to Free Haven Baa temple to refill. Beaconed to Prince of Thieves
room for capture. Beaconed to Stone for 10000 gold reward (NPCs don't get
cut of this reward) and council vote. Now at Honorable and must watch
actions. Might be good to do Loretta's Stable quest before this since it
reduces reputation, but that requires a trip to Darkmoor village via
Pathfinder/Guide, and it would be preferable not to do so at level one since
most of the harpies and ghosts start out flying and are thus largely immune
to Meteor Storm/Starburst. (Later go and do MOD anyway using fireball for
flyers, so Stable quest is most likely doable as a well-aided Level 1 but it
is a toss up whether a trip to the Mire of the Damned is convenient early or
later).
17:21 Beaconed to Kriegspire, talked to hermit, went back to Stromgard, now
at glorious.
17:23 Decided to stop to catch the boat from Mist to Ironfist. Used group
Town Portal to recently visited White Cap, fired used Gate Master, hired the
one in stables.
17:30 Town Portaled to Mist. Set beacon near guild. Fired SpellMaster/hired
sailor in back of inn. Reached boat to Ironfist.
January 4
17:30 Reached Ironfist. Beaconed to Kriegspire to use well just to generate
more energy drakes. Each time Kriegspire +30 level well is used, more
energy drakes are added to a group in the far northwest, just out of range
from the statue pedestal, which is the reason for the danger warning when
you use it. They are protecting a chest.
17:31 Town Portaled to Silver Cove, filled up some at well and set beacon.
17:33 Beaconed to Mist, Reached ship to Bootleg Bay. It is immaterial
whether anything is done on this day since a one day trip always takes up
exactly 24 hours, and beacon/town portal means you can come back to what you
need to do. Besides doing things would risk going past the last moment one
can catch a ship/coach, and then have to wait days. All one day trips were
done at the time they were done because a ship/coach was going or in the
case of overland trips, existing areas were used up and no ship/coach was
going anyplace that wasn't already accessible. Also, as in the case of
Sweet Water, it gained access to a fountain just when a increase in stats of
that size was needed to have any effect.
January 5
17:33 Reached Bootleg Bay. Down to 49143 gold. Set Beacon. Beacon to
Kriegspire. Use Well. TP to Blackshire.
17:36 Fill up at fountain, set beacon. Get horseshoes. Get Alexis up to 4 in
air. Drink from +50 luck well.
17:43 Beacon/TP to Free Haven, hire merchant/duper, beacon to Mist, get 3
ice bolts, 2 enchant items, 1 water walk; 2 fireballs, 2 rings of fire, 2
fire bolts, 1 haste; and 3 lightning bolts for the sorcerers. Also bought
learning, as the 10% boost in experience is well worth it. Putting in more
skill points may be questionable though, and out of the question when points
only available by horseshoe. Bombed Baaites at lighthouse near guilds.
17:46 Beacon to Free Haven, then TP to town center. Fly to Spirit Guild to
get Remove Curse for harpy encounters.
17:50 Got 1 Starburst, 1 Meteor Storm, 2 Infernos, 1 Fireball, 2 Fire
Blasts, 2 Town Portals and 2 Acid bursts. 1 Fire Blast was unneeded and will
be sold. Bought herbs at general store.
17:57 Roderick drank four sips from the +2 Might well to max out, then drank
essence of Might. Alexis drank 2, the others drank one each. Then bought
Power at Body Guild.
18:00 Alexis became an air expert for longer flight, treasure spotting
Wizard Eye, and a better Sparks spell, among other things.
18:14 Beaconed to Mist. Cleaned up Baaites from before, got teleporter quest
then proceeded clockwise bombing rest of Baaites on main island. Cleaned up
to Castle, visited Newton and got quests. Cleaned up rest, then bought
leather skill at Buccaneer's Lair. Didn't actual wear armor much since it
made for considerably slower spell recovery, but it was good to have the
ability to wear it anyway.
18:15 Beaconed to Free Haven to refill and dismissed NPCs. Beaconed to
Bootleg Bay.
18:26 ICBMed cannibals on Personality/Intellect well island. Telekinesis the
trap and clean out chest.
18:42 Skipped other and flew to Fountain of Magic (FOM) on mainland and
reset Bootleg Bay beacon. Filled up.
18:47 Beacon to Mist. Revisit Newton. Alexis, Serena, Zoltan now Wizards,
and receive sizeable boost to hit points and spell points. As with the NPC
duos in Free Haven, the ease of the first cleric and sorcerer promotions may
have been intentional.
19:01 Beacon to FOM. Fill up Wizard hit points with power cures, then
everybody fills up with spell points. Alexis recasts air. Going to clean up
Bootleg Bay, Ironfist, and Mist without Spellmaster/Mystic since opponents
are so weak and easy to bomb.
19:42 Went clockwise around to Circus and Hall of Firelord, then cannibal
camp where extra care was taken not to touch the bones and pot. Got herbs
off side of hill and beaconed back to FOM to refill after recasting air.
20:25 Finished surface of Bootleg Bay. Refilled at FOM.
20:30 Beaconed to Ironfist and used horseshoes to get Serena to 3 in air.
20:51 Cleaned up all the way down to and around Dragoons Caverns. Reset
beacon, beacon to FOM, return.
21:16 Cleaned up around Temple of Baa and baa temple across Bay. Reset
beacon, beacon to FOM, return.
21:35 Cleaned up around Corlagon's and pit. Reset beacon, beacon to FOM,
return.
22:25 Cleaned up north of Corlagon's up to and around Snergles, then from
the Seer house on down to valley. Then Reset, FOM, return.
22:52 Cleaned up around Shadow Guild Hideout down toward to Castle, but
didn't fly past bridge. Then Reset, FOM, return.
23:20 Open chest north of Castle, but was empty. Open Chest by dock. Took
letter to Humphrey. Got quests. Cleaned out those south of bridge,
finishing surface of Ironfist.
January 6
00:05 Beaconed to Mist. Took Teleporter to north islands. Cleaned out all
but last island before Reset, FOM, return.
00:21 Finished off all the cutpurses on the last island, then read obelisk.
00:49 Beaconed to Silver Cove for horseshoes, raise Serena to 4 in air,
beacon to Free Haven to make her expert. Hired Spellmaster/Mystic. Beacon
to FOM to reset spells and refill. Beacon to Silver Cove to bomb gargoyles
and use speed and accuracy wells. After using speed well, sorcerers can use
Essence of Speed to reach equal speed with thieves. Beacon to Ironfist to go
to Shadow Guild Hideout.
01:48 Finished Shadow Guild Hideout.
02:15 Finished cleaning out treasure from Shadow Guild Hideout after not
doing so before.
02:30 Enter Dragoon's Cavern's
04:28 After finishing the left hand area to the switch that opens up the
rest, and doing the upper level of the sewer, set beacon using remaining
free beacon slot, and went and refilled at the FOM. Victim of own success:
keep getting items that won't fit in backpacks. Will have to comeback later
after 8:00 AM so everything can be sold.
06:00 Figured out the problem with the chest in the octagonal room: if you
trip the trap, it destroys the upper layer, including the incriminating
letter. Finally got it to open. Anyway, fought around to just short of the
harp room before refilling.
06:54 Finished the harp room and the sewers below.
08:07 While waiting for the alchemist shop to open, finished all of Free
Haven surface but west and northwest. Got quests from Lord Temper and got
Chadwick's nomination at Rockham's Pride.
08:24 Switched to Duper/Merchant. Sold off almost all of the backpack
contents.
10:00 After returning to Dragoon's Cavern's to clean it out, sold everything
after enchanting some of it.
10:55 Killed all the rest of those on surface of Free Haven and sold some
more stuff.
11:17 Traveled to FOM to refill, then Silver Cove to join Light and Earth
guilds. Bought 3 Stone to Flesh, a protection from magic, 2 deadly swarms, 3
destroy undead and a day of the gods. Got bounty for Magyar Matron. Traveled
to Mist. Got bounty for Thunder Lizard. Traveled to Blackshire to buy 1
destroy
undead and an hour of power. Went back to Free Haven, got a deadly swarm,
rock blast, etc. As usual bought out guilds to force restock, while selling
surplus to alchemist. Swapped Duper/Merchant for Spell/Mystic.
12:40 After refilling, went to Blackshire to retrieve Lord Kilburn's shield.
Also, went and took out all the werewolves and air elementals north of the
mountains.
12:45 Turned in the shield to Lord Humphrey after picking up the sword in
the stone.
16:01 At some point after 12:45, started Temple of Baa in Ironfist. Now
Halfway through clearing the skeletons from the big room in the Temple of
Baa, skedaddle out to get to the alchemist shop in Free Haven with
Duper/Merchant, after enchanting all but one overlooked item with
Spellmaster/Mystic. Sold armor and weapons, including PC armor in interest
of speeding up recovery of spells. Sold Gong. Rehired Spellmaster/Mystic.
17:00 Finished with Temple of Baa. Got secret 5000 gold from torch. Could
hire a Free Haven Gatemaster to go to New Sorpigal with the quest items and
Sharry Carnegie, but the New Sorpigal Town Hall won't open until 10:00 the
next day.
17:05 Return Harp from Dragoons Caverns to owner. Decide to do Corlagon's
for Archmage promotion.
17:30 Used Teleport to speed trip, but at door remembered nasty special
attacks of ghosts, set beacon and went to Blackshire to use +30 Magic
Resistance well, using Stone To Flesh spell to undo stoning.
23:00 Finished Corlagon's (ghosts/skeletons susceptible to sparks and
fireballs in the very long narrow hallways) and Alexis, Serena and Zoltan
have been promoted to Archmages. Only Serena was aged, and by only one year.
Will now finish Mist by clearing out the Silver Helm Outpost.
January 7
01:00 Finished the Silver Helm Outpost and have returned Melody Silver to
Lord Humphrey. Now up to Saintly.
01:23 Replaced SpellMaster/Mystic with Duper/Merchant. Beaconed to Hargraeve
and TPed to White Cap, bought 4 Shrapmetals, 4 Toxic Clouds, and 1 Day of
Protection. Beaconed to Blackshire and flew to town, bought and learned 2
Dragon Breaths and 2 Armageddons. Forced restock in both places. TPed to
Mist and turned in at inn to prevent problems from lack of sleep. Also, the
rest brought about by sleep or travel eliminates the +30 increase in level
from the Kriegspire well, allowing it to reuse it and generate more energy
drakes.
06:05 After selling all armor and weapons, beaconed to Kriegspire, then to
FOM but only to fill enough to beacon to Free Haven, refill sp and hp, then
trade Duper/Merchant for SpellMaster/Mystic. Beacon to Baa temple, cast Day
Of Gods (DOG), Day Of Protection (DOP), Fly, Wizard Eye, then refill.
07:00 Beacon/TP to White Cap. Kill Fire Archers by temple, kill and clear
Archers and Magyars down to Icewind Keep and after refilling at Mist, down
to fountains, all by ICBM. Magyar Matron bounty fulfilled. Killed some east
of river but didn't collect because would activate others. Now back at Keep
to get keys. Then only things left to do in New Sorpigal will be Gharik's
and Stable quest, both of which can wait until after training and water
mastery.
07:45 Realizing the +50 luck well hadn't been used, after clearing half and
flipping one of the switches, beaconed to Blackshire, flew to Temple of Baa,
TPed to town, set beacon (finally!), refilled, drank from luck well,
beaconed back to outside the entrance of Icewind Keep.
08:30 After doing the other half, beacon to Free Haven temple, refill,
beacon back to entrance, now for the big fight in middle.
09:08 Finished big fight at gate to middle, set beacon, beaconed to FH to
refill, then went back for final fight. (May have used Ring of Fire to kill
through wall to eliminate some before using Sparks, etc. on survivors).
09:31 Finished with final fight, opened cabinet, opened secret door, opened
chests.
09:45 Beaconed to Castle Stone, then flew to Castle Stromgard, got
promotion, got next quest.
10:20 Beaconed to White Cap, Blackshire, Mist, and Silver Cove to fix
towers. Beaconed/Tped to Free Haven. Fixed Tower. Did standard NPC switch,
sold lots of stuff, beaconed to Icewind to get stuff that hadn't fit, sold
that. Did standard force of restock. Ditched NPCs, claimed Magyar Matron
bounty in Silver Cove, turned in Enemies List in Mist. Beaconed/Tped to Free
Haven, hired Spell Master/Gate Master. TPed to New Sorpigal. Handed over
chimes, letter, and Sherry Carnegie.
10:35 Set floating beacon spot to New Sorpigal, then went back to Stromgard
for promotion. Will now rid New Sorpigal of surface enemy while it is still
light and then finish Goblinwatch and the Abandoned Temple.
11:30 Cleared out everything on the mainland, which leaves the water expert
island and the pot trap on Gharik's Forge isle.
12:21 Finished the islands, now finishing off Goblinwatch.
13:30 Finished with Goblinwatch.
15:45 Finished with Abandoned Temple and have sold off everything.
Unfortunately, last town portal setting got set to Free Haven when refilling
so now must exit Temple though front entrance to turn in heart and eggs.
Used special teleport to get from back to near entrance.
16:03 Dropped off queen spider heart and cobra eggs and picked up sword in
stone.
17:15 Finished off the Devil Lair in Kriegspire and gave plans to Lord
Temper for Council support.
20:14 Finished Dragoon's Keep, acquired the artifact dagger Mordred.
21:30 Finished Temple of the Sun, returned chalice, got Roderick promoted,
refilled and did Temple of the Fist.
January 8
01:50 Finished Hall of the Fire lord. At the last, the burglar from Mist had
to be hired to open the skull chest, since Roderick had not the disarm skill
to open it, even with the key. Got the Merchant/Duper team and slept in the
Mist inn.
06:00 Powered up in Kriegspire. Sold all armor and weapons. Had Mordred
identified and three broken weapons repaired. Got Spellmaster/Mystic, did
DOG and fly at FOM, did +50 luck and +30 magic resistance in Blackshire.
08:09 Finished Cleaning up southern part of Blackshire of lizards and air
elementals.
09:58 Finished with the Temple of Tsantsa and returning Sherell Ivanaveh.
10:18 Cleared the way to Shadow Guild Headquarters.
10:58 Finished with Shadow Guild, and enchanting items before getting
Duper/Merchant and selling them. Did not try to do anything with the trap
room at the back since I didn't have the version in which it worked.
Besides
it appears the perception level wasn't high enough to play anyway and the
teleporters appear to be one way and not practical for fulltime use. They
do make for a better story as the Headquarters is connected to its outposts
(sewers, Hideout, Dragoon's Keep).
11:09 Finished selling including amber, and made side trip to Mist to claim
Thunder Lizard bounty.
12:48 Finished clearing out all of Frozen Highlands and using the Endurance
fountain. Since all quests have been fulfilled and the obelisk read, this is
a good candidate to drop from beacon list. Training will allow a return via
water mastery.
12:54 Yippee! The speed/accuracy fountains in Silver Cove have reset.
Roderick finally maxed on speed and drank potion. He was also maxed on
accuracy and drank potion, while others are just one trip away from being
maxed, unless they drink luck potion after additional trip to New Sorpigal.
15:01 Finished clearing out surface of Silver Cove. Of those already
traveled to, the only place with surface creatures left is Kriegspire.
18:02 Finished with Silver Helm Stronghold and selling weapons and armor.
John Silver's Ghost refused to acknowledge that Melody had already been
rescued. Fortunately, the hidden door opened anyway and talking to him about
the Ankh made Lady Fliese and Lord Stone recognize that it had been
captured. It was fortunate that I hadn't used the Frozen Highlands slot
yet, so a visit to Lord Stone was still possible.
18:09 Finished recasting and refilling at FOM, and getting to talk to Lord
of Fire, which forgot to do in rush to get to inn over 16 hours earlier.
18:22 Hired Tracker from Silver Cove and Pathfinder wandering around Mist of
all places. Mist is a good place to hire help though multiple reloads since
all new people in town can be viewed from high above the town square.
18:40 Beaconed to Ironfist and flew to pass near Snergle's Caverns. Ready
to cross over into Mire of the Damned.
January 9
18:46 After setting beacon, using Frozen Highlands slot, beaconed to
Kriegspire, drank, beaconed to Mist, healed, fired Tracker/Pathfinder,
beaconed to Free Haven, hired SpellMaster/Mystic, beaconed to FOM, cast DOP
and DOG, refilled, beaconed to Mire.
21:18 After working around in a long U down the east of the Mire then up to
Castle Darkmoor, clearing out skeletons, ghosts, and harpies along the way
(using mostly fireballs for ghosts and harpies), was ready to tackle
Longfang. Reset beacon to Temple of Baa in southeast corner along the way.
21:33 Have killed Longfang using ice bolt, sparks, etc and been promoted to
honorary Heroes.
22:21 Worked way down to pedestal and cleaned out chest.
22:33 After beaconing to Temple of Baa and refilling, flew to Snergle's Iron
Mine.
January 10
01:44 Finished with Snergle's Iron Mine. Went to sleep in inn somewhere.
06:15 Have finished with morning routine (this time remembering to go to
Blackshire). Aiming to finish Mire surface and air before alchemist shop
opens at 08:00.
06:51 Finished clearing Mire. Hmm, what to do for the next hour that doesn't
require moving a beacon. On to north Kriegspire.
07:51 Finished with northeast Kriegspire. Beacon to Free Haven and enchanted
eligible items.
08:19 After hiring duper/merchant, sell everything but Cardinal cloak of
power, which goes to Alexis. Then fire NPCs, hire gate master, portal to New
Sorpigal and have Alexis, Serena, and Zoltan drink from luck fountain. First
two max out and drink essence of luck potions. Beacon back to Free Haven,
hire SpellMaster/Mystic, fill up at FOM, then beacon to Ironfist to do
Snergle's caverns.
08:42 Find out that in rush to get to inn, forgot to clean out chests in
Iron mine. Fortunately haul is small and can wait till next time that stuff
is being sold. Refill and fly to caverns.
12:00 Finished Snergle's Caverns in Ironfist and took axe back to inn in
Darkmoor village to prove it.
14:00 Finished the Monolith in Silver Cove.
14:08 After hiring Tracker in Silver Cove, found Pathfinder in Free Haven.
14:29 After beaconing to Blackshire and flying south, ready to cross into
Dragonsand on the paved road, which is the safest point to arrive in
Dragonsand.
January 11
14:29 Set beacon in Dragonsand, taking place of beacon to Mist. Then beacon
to Kriegspire for daily drink.
14:38 After beaconing to Silver Cove and firing tracker and hiring Pirate,
ready to sail to South Island, Eel Infested Waters.
January 12
14:43 Fly from dock to behind inn. Set beacon at Light masters door, taking
place of one to Silver Cove.
14:50 After firing pirate and hiring explorer, beacon to Kriegspire.
15:10 After daily drink, fly to Obelisk and then to pedestal. Ready to cross
over into Sweet Water.
January 13
15:35 After finding pedestal, flew down east side, opening chest with TK,
and reading obelisk. Set beacon at +50 all stat well in southeast Sweet
Water, taking place of Blackshire one. Now have beacons in every non-central
fountain area except Paradise Valley and Hermit's Isle, and one in Free
Haven with its Gate Master, and a spare to be used for the current activity.
15:37 After drinking in Kriegspire, refilled at Ironfist temple, beaconed to
Free Haven, where +2 might well had finally regenerated, allowing Serena and
Zoltan to max out. Alexis, Serena and Zoltan then drank essence of Might
because intellect reduction doesn't effect spell points with +50 well and
DOG in force. Only +2 luck well left, but it wouldn't have regenerated yet.
16:03 After hiring SpellMaster/Mystic, reset DOG, Fly, Eye, etc. Beaconed to
Dragonsand and took out Wyrms. Got relic that increases intellect by 100
while decreasing might by 40 (Later identified as Athena). Gave it to
Alexis. Unfortunately, there are no horseshoes as there have been before. In
fact, there is nothing in the open, not even herbs as there have always been
before. Dragonsand doesn't seem to get treasures on the ground this early.
Zoltan cannot be made an Air expert, and it seems to be less possible to
take out Dragons though ICBM.
16:13 Success! Alexis took out the NW dragons almost on her own, so taking
out individual groups of dragons is assured. The wide wing span of dragons
makes up for them not being on the ground, particularly if they are close
enough to get hit by some of the bouncing meteors or stars. Obtained a
relic and an artifact. Unfortunately, it is told that the fates only allow a
certain number of these things to fall into the hands of the brave
adventuring party. Three slots may have been squandered on a plate armor
artifact entirely unusable by the party, and a relic bow only marginally
useful, plus the above ring.
17:29 After having worked down to the obelisk (not picking anything up, will
do later with scholar in tow), Alexis had to drink Divine Magic to finish
off a group flying above the cliffs, where the bounce back effect was
lessened but not eliminated.
19:36 Finished off the rest down to the coast then around the Shrine of the
Gods. Used the teleport to New Sorpigal (a certain spot on the outside of
the building) to finally max Roderick and Zoltan on Luck, drink potions,
then returned either by beacon or teleport atop New Sorpigal Buccaneer's
Lair so everybody could touch the Shrine of the Gods for increased
abilities.
22:20 Finished with Dragonsand. Done in just over six hours, it was done
just about as fast as is possible, even at higher levels since most of the
time was spent creeping up to use ICBM to kill some and soften up the rest
and then get them to move forward to be finished off with Sparks and melee,
while not activating any others. The floating beacon kept getting reset
between groups for trips back to healing temples to recharge spell points.
January 14
00:14 Finished the Temple of the Moon. For some unknown reason, the Might
increase didn't happen for Zoltan, but all other altars functioned for all
party members. It was quite a surprise to find a hidden treasure room behind
the Altar of Speed.
00:34 Dismissed NPCs, hired Gate Master to go to Blackshire, set floating
beacon to Adept Guild of Dark, went back for Duper/Merchant team, bought 2
Dragon Breaths, 2 Armageddons, 2 Day of Protections, and a Moon Ray.
01:52 After rehiring Spellmaster/Mystic, did all of rest of Free Haven
Sewers except the NE corner, before going to the inn.
07:57 On top of the usual morning routine, made round of permanent increase
wells that eradicate and kill, increasing abilities and elemental and magic
resistances. These were particularly the ones on the Dragonsand islands but
there may be others I'm forgetting. Roderick would cure the others, while
they took him back to a healing temple to be restored.
09:52 Finished the Tomb of Ethric the Mad using same spells as Corlagons and
turned in Ethric's skull.
12:16 Finished clearing out Dragonsand with Scholar (for on-the-spot
identification) and Banker, now ready to sell. Had to stash a good bit in
crates in New Sorpigal via the teleport. Got items of fire, water and air
for each sorcerer, as well as ones for Dark and Light. Also three items of
power. Also have Ingraine, Lucius, Galahad, Ares, and Artemis (from January
13) for Roderick, Athena (ditto) for Alexis, Morgan and another Mordred for
Serena. Happy to get one thing of any real use in every 5 to 7 bodies. Found
Ingraine and a ring of water in one group of 5-7 .
12:44 Finished selling everything. Have gone over 1,000,000 gold.
12:50 After hiring Tracker and Pathfinder, beacon to Sweet Water, ready to
cross over into Paradise Valley.
January 15
13:30 After setting a beacon, did the daily Kriegspire drink and refilled.
Returned to Paradise Valley and flew directly west and then directly south
as that is the safest route. Now ready to cross over into Hermit's Isle.
January 16
13:50 After crossing over, flew directly to the Supreme Temple of Baa in the
SW part of the actual Hermit's Isle, itself in the SW of the region. Went
in, followed the hum (and dungeon map), raised the locking mechanism to
start up the teleporter, and finished the activation by crossing through
into the Free Haven Sewers. Between beacons, this teleport, and Town
Portal/Gate masters, all areas are now reachable AND there's a free beacon
to use on whatever task is currently being done.
14:00 After rehiring the SpellMaster/Mystic team, and doing the full routine
sans the magic resist in Blackshire, went back to Paradise Valley to take
out titans and hydras.
19:07 Finished with all the titans and hydras. Also killed four red dragons,
three by the old fashioned method of getting in close and using ice bolt,
sparks, etc, just as was done with Longfang.
20:10 Took teleporter to Supreme Temple, went and looked through the
observation window into the central shaft, then went outside. Flew mostly
northeast then east until the obelisks and fountain of youth were reached.
After killing hydra obelisk was safe to read. After killing some titans, it
was safe to let Alexis and Serena rejuvenate after the Spectre attack on
Serena and the use of Divine Magic potions by Alexis. Only remaining obelisk
is in Eel-Infested Waters. Strange name, since Hermit's Isle is much more
infested with them.
21:24 After resetting the fading Sweet Water beacon, travel to Eel Infested
Waters, read the obelisk, then reset the beacon to the elemental resistance
fountain on the SW island, while ridding these islands of Agar's Chickens.
21:32 After beaconing to Dragonsand, arrived at obelisk treasure spot,
tripped the trap with TK, then claimed 250000 gold, Guinevere, another
Morgan, another Ingraine, and the Divine Intervention and Dark Containment
spell books, which were sold since I never found any use for the spells.
21:43 After beaconing back to Shrine of Gods, flew to Oasis, and reset
beacon in front of Spell Master/Gate Master house. Dismissed Free Haven
Spell Master, hired Gate Master.
22:02 After portaling to Blackshire and getting Twillen's Quest, prayed at
Shrine of Might (the only month activated shrine usable in this quick
victory) and placed Dragon statuette in Bootleg Bay. Also refilled at FOM.
22:21 Set the Bear statuette in Kriegspire.
22:38 Set the Bird statuette in Dragonsand. A minute before set statuette in
Sweet Water.
22:52 Set statuette in Mire of the Damned and collected reward and 75000
experience points. A very quick fulfillment of Twillen's Quest.
23:05 Ready to try the Lair of the Wolf.
January 17
01:10 Finished with outer section, ready to go inside. Used mostly sparks
and fireball, but also some Dragon Breaths (from as far away as possible),
Toxic Clouds and Acid Bursts for Greater Werewolves. Set floating beacon to
altar because of enormous distances to run in that outer section. The only
dungeons with bigger rooms are Darkmoor and the Tomb of Varn.
01:54 Finished with left side of Lair. Beaconing to Kriegspire to sleep.
06:26 After doing the routine, sans magic resist, ready to start on rest of
Lair.
08:12 Since backpacks were full, used Dragonsand Gate master to go to Free
Haven and sell everything not of use. Then healed and returned to Lair.
11:30 Finished the Lair. After turning in pearls, beaconed to Dragonsand,
dismissed Free Haven SpellMaster, hired GateMaster, portaled to Silver Cove,
set beacon, beaconed back to Dragonsand to hire Dragonsand SpellMaster,
beaconed back to Silver Cove, ready to fly to Warlord's Keep.
15:30 Finished the Warlord's Keep, largely through the same techniques as in
the Lair. Returned the discharge papers. Left all loot in chests and bodies
alone to be picked up shortly.
16:00 Finished selling first round of stuff from Keep, including all the
alchemist shop only stuff.
16:12 Finished selling second round of stuff from Keep. Rehire the
Spellmaster and Mystic.
16:30 Ready to bomb Kriegspire Energy Drakes (the ones added to by drinking
from the well) and protectors.
16:40 Finished bombing Kriegspire Energy Drakes and protectors. Also reset
beacon to gather stuff after training.
16:52 Finished the last remaining section of the Free Haven sewers.
17:03 After hiring favorite Free Haven Duper/Merchant team, and buying some
elemental spells (particularly Incinerate), was now ready to start training
in Castle Ironfist, with the NPCs negotiating the price. Once one is
eligible to go past level 50, Castle Ironfist is as cheap as any, goes
higher, and is usually more convenient. The party gold is at 1502858. Not
training would mean a faster win, but the dungeons following are big and
difficult, and one would prefer to do them with higher level characters.
Training earlier might have shaved some time off at the expense of being
lower level after training and thus making the following dungeons more
difficult.
January 25
09:00 Have finished training, with everyone going up to 62nd level and
receiving 473 skill points. The training cost 301731 gold and would have
been much higher without the NPC help. Careful calculation has shown that
this will allow Alexis and Serena to go to 13 in Fire, 9 in Air, 13 in
Water, 21 in Dark, 4 in Light, 4 in Meditation, 4 in Leather, and 4 in
Dagger. Zoltan will do the same except only to 3 in Meditation because we
still haven't found two more horseshoes. This will leave them with 1 skill
point left but we can't have everything. Earth wasn't increased since
the damage spells aren't as effective as others, the protection spells are
included in DOP, and the cure spells will either be done in minutes or
can be bought at a healing temple.
Roderick will go to 4 in Spirit, 12 in Body, 19 in Dark, 17 in Light, 4 in
Perception (for the Superior Temple of Baa), 4 in Disarm, 4 in Meditation,
4 in Chain, 4 in Mace, and the left over two in Bow. Mind is not increased
for him for same reason as skipping Earth for sorcerers. Telekinesis really
isn't effected by skill or mastery level, despite documentation. The
location of NPC repair people are known if things need fixing or
identifying when the shops are closed.
10:05 After visiting a number of expert and master trainers, travel to
Dragonsand and Kriegspire for Banker/Scholar, and in the castle heal at wall
to reduce reputation to Notorious. Now on to Paradise Valley to gather stuff
and achieve Dark Mastery.
11:47 Finished with first round of pickup from Paradise Valley. Drop
Scholar/Banker for Duper/Merchant. After selling, rehire Spellmaster/Mystic.
15:15 Finished killing most of the titans and hydras on mainland and island
of Hermit's Isle. Drop Spellmaster/Mystic for Scholar/Banker.
17:46 Finished cleaning up treasure from Kriegspire, Paradise Valley (bodies
in both areas stayed put over training), and Hermit's Isle. Found another
Guinevere. Kept trading back and forth between Scholar/Banker and
Merchant/Duper every time backpacks and available chests filled up.
19:04 Finished the Temple of the Snake, including Q, acquiring his Horn of
Ros. Had to get up real close on medusa to use 'shotgun' spells to prevent
peasants from being killed (much as they deserved it<g>). Also used never
miss spells like incinerate, fire bolt, etc. Q handled largely with Sparks
and Shrapmetal.
20:04 Finished Agar's Laboratory. Telekinesis would trip trap (push button)
to bring up Eyes while everybody was out in hall, Dragon Breath would kill
Eyes in one shot.
22:35 Finished with Gharik's Forge. Used mostly Dragon Breath, Toxic Cloud,
Incinerate and Shrapmetal on sorcerers. Ice Bolt on Fire elementals. Holding
off on turning it in until after the Stable Quest, so rep can be brought
back up to Respectable before getting the benefit of doing a positive
council quest.
22:53 Starting Superior Temple of Baa.
January 26
03:40 Finished the Superior Temple of Baa. Used mostly Dragon Breath, Toxic
Cloud, Incinerate and Shrapmetal on sorcerers. Used those and sparks and
fireball on priests and druids. Found evidence of Slickertongue being a
traitor.
05:40 After returning Emmanuel to Blackshire (having inadvertently taken him
along to the Superior Temple), finished off Castle Kriegspire and recovered
the memory crystal.
06:04 Moved the floating beacon to the Supreme Temple of Baa as well as
doing part of it. Going to Loretta Fliese.
06:30 Finished the Stable quest and received credit in just under half an
hour.
06:35 After raising reputation back to respectable, turned in Hourglass of
Time and raised rep to Honorable.
06:40 Confronted Slickertongue with evidence and received access to Oracle.
Rep raised to Saintly.
06:58 Visited Oracle and placed Kriegspire memory module in a holder.
07:10 After selling everything in backpacks in Free Haven and half the stuff
placed in chests in New Sorpigal in New Sorpigal, starting the Supreme
Temple of Baa. Since the SpellMaster/Mystic team is overkill, taking
Duper/Merchant along so they can see what they usually miss.
09:30 Finished the Supreme Temple of Baa. Dragon breath, Ice bolt, and
sparks.
09:47 Finished selling off everything in backpacks and stored in chests in
New Sorpigal. Now to take out Eels in Hermit's Isle and Eel Infested Waters.
12:34 Finished killing Eels. Finished Hermit's Isle with Dragon Breaths and
most of EIW with Armageddons. Should have done it the other way around, or
better yet, one today, the other tomorrow. 12 Armageddon's would have
finished off everything in Hermit's Isle but the few titans on the isle that
were overlooked. In EIW, there still remain the unaffected water elementals
and Agar's chickens. Starting Darkmoor while it is still light.
16:00 Started on the south Cavern and found the L-shaped corridor with the
switch. Once through, set beacon at front of building in huge cavern, and
cleared out the north, before refilling and returning to beacon. Then
started clearing out south side before interrupting to sell off everything
in Free Haven.
20:34 Finished Darkmoor. Used Sparks and weapons for Orcs. Destroy Undead
and Incinerate for liches.
Dragon Breath, Toxic Cloud, Acid Burst for Eyes. Starting Alamos.
January 27
03:00 Finished Alamos. Used mostly Dragon Breath, Toxic Cloud, Incinerate
and Shrapmetal on sorcerers. Ice Bolt, Fire Blast on air elementals. Sparks,
Fire Blast, Shrapmetal, Dragon Breath, Toxic Cloud, Acid Burst on Magyars.
Started on the large hard rooms on east side early while healing temples
were still open. Also opened the eight chests in the treasure room early
which was and will be a good place to stash stuff until the shops open.
03:25 Starting the Tomb of Varn. After going through doors to the far left
of the Flame Door, to get the Flame Door key and Captain's Code, made the
mistake of not killing all at the Flame Door so I wouldn't have to cross the
very large room behind it to kill them when I enter from back later. Then
went up the indoor pyramid to kill some before coming back down go through
to the back room, where a beacon was set at the Water Temple door. After
dispatching all the genies in the corner, went through the Back Door, set a
beacon at that intersection and then on through the pool area and into the
library where, in bookcases, books were found to be sold and a beacon was
set at the treasure chest.
08:00 Interrupted trip through the Tomb of Varn to sell off everything in
Free Haven. Oh, spells were usually Dragon's Breath and Toxic Clouds for
Genies and Varnites at a distance, Shrapmetal up close.
12:30 Finished the Tomb of Varn. After library, went past corridor to back
entrance of Well room (which is the room behind the Flame Door), and down
the next corridor, up the stairs, then down through the pit to the next pit,
then down to the three way intersection, then into the maze leading to the
chest near the bottom of the Well of Varn. After getting the Water Temple
Key and a scroll in the chest, beaconed to Water Temple and got library
chest key. Beaconed to library to open chest for Well chest key and a scroll
and to get scrolls behind tapestries. Went back to Well room to clean it
out, including those at Flame Door. Read a code in each pool, dropped down
the Well of Varn, fought bots, opened chest, got Control Cube. Then started
the Caverns of the Dragon Riders, which was forgotten until now.
13:50 Finished the Caverns of the Dragon Riders (saving time by setting
beacon at intersection near entrance) and selling everything in Mist and New
Sorpigal. Had to stuff things into the eight chests in Alamos at times to
keep going. Used a lot of the same spells as in the Warlord's Keep.

January 28
00:09 Ready to do the reactor room!
00:32 Took out everything in the reactor room and saved Enroth! Yay!
Finished with a fame of 18525 and a score of 712514. Game took 26 days,
15.5 hours, which after subtracting 9 days of travel, 7 days/15 hours of
training, and 20 hours of sleep, works out to be 9 days, 4.5 hours of actual
game time involved in movement and fighting.
At some point, I may play a fifth game to see how fast I can just win the
game.

For game four? Only about three or four. I wasn't going to go back and I
knew enough by then to stay out of trouble. Also, since I trained before
doing the hardest stuff, I had more than enough firepower to handle it. I
did more reloading for getting spell books and certain magic items than
anything else.
