Warning don't read this if don't want parts of the game
spoiled. With that, skip down to the bottom to read.

Ok... I've gotten teh chip for the vault, and found the Mariposa
military base. I went back to the brotherhood and told them about the
base, for which they agreed to send 3 palidins and myself to the base
to stop them. Well... I'm there now. I've defeated the mutant
guards outside and gotten the tape withthe door code... Now, when I
go inside the alarms go off and the Paladins are nowhere to be found!
This I can deal with to be honest, but here's ny actual problem:
Anytime I disable a forcefield or use the computer to turn them all
off, nothing happens! Is this a bug or is it because the alarms are
on? If it's because of the alarms what do I do to turn them off or
prevent them from activating in the first place? any thoughts, no
matter how detailed, would be useful...

That's what I did as well, but the yellow fields do not drop when I
disable them either... I take they did in your game even when the
alarms were on? Hmmm... As for the mutants in the base, I completely
agree, I was slightly disappointed by their passive nature. On the
other hand, they did manage to kill all three of NPCS the first time I
went through...

I don't think it is a bug and assumed that the force fields do not turn off
because of the alarms . I got through by going ahead and taking the minor
damage the red fields dish out and using my repair skill to tempoarily
disable the yellow ones so that I could pass through. I found no way to
disable the alarms.

On the same note as the alarms question I found that the Super Mutants in
the base were the least aggressive of their kind and had no problem walking
relatively close to them and blowing them away without THEM initiating
combat. Do you find this to be the case?

Good luck hope this helped.

Yeah, I saw that, but it's still a problem, none of the fields
actually fall. Someone said dynamite works so I'm going to try
that...

Gee, when I hacked into it, I just got to play a game of cards...
("You receive 800 experience points for your unusual hacking
technique. Blackjack!") No effect on the force fields, though.

It does. I tried Science skill on the generators, but not repair. It
didn't work, so I blowed 'em up real good.
