I really don't know where to begin. Fallout was a breath of
fresh air in the computer RPG field. Sure, the concept wasn't anything
really new, but it was implemented better than it has ever been in the
past. From the vast scope of the engine, to the intricate details of
the storyline, it seemed obvious to me that there was a lot of love
and time put into this game. From all the attention and time Tim Cain
put into promoting Fallout on this news group, as well as other areas,
I believe that he was one of the major people responsible for
Fallout's enjoyableness and success. I think that this can be nothing
but an ill omen for the sequel, which I was so looking forward too.

If you happen to read this, Mr. Cain, I think I speak for many
people on this news group when I say " Thanks for all the attention
you put into Fallout." I know I derived for more enjoyment from that
game that any other rpg which I've perchased in the last few years. I
look forward to any future products in which you have a hand.

Fallout was for me the best game I played for a long time.
Many thanks to the Fallout team for the wonderful moments they gave me (and
still gives as I am replaying it now and again ;-)).

Still hopes to see a sequel. But thanks anyway...

Fallout was my favorite game in all of 1997. I would choose it in a
second over Diablo, Quake, or Tomb Raider. Interface, graphics, story,
all done very well. Even the voice acting was done very well, a true
rarity. But Fallout is an RPG, and on that level it is the most
succesful.

I'm still looking forward to Fallout 2 and am confident that F2 will be at
least as good as, if not even better than Fallout 1. But what I'm worry about
is the CRPG genre as a whole. For the longest time, people have been producing
CRPGs in the fantasy genre, as if other genre don't exist. But Fallout changed
all that. Fallout is great not jsut because its a great game, but also because
its a game set in the Post-nuclear world and built as a game set in that
genre. I'm afraid that we'll have to go back to the doldrum of countless
Medieval/Tolkienesque fantasy RPGs. Strange that while RPG is about
imagination, gamers and producers alkie have shown very little of it.

Hear hear!
To Tim Cain (chugs a beer), a goddamned great producer!
At least we can look forward to more of his work (he's going solo, for now
anyway). I hope he decides to tackle something from Roger Zelazny's works
(Amber series would rock my world) seeing as he likes Zel's work a good
deal.
Anyway you slice it, I don't think we've heard the last of Tim Cain,
though I hope he doesn't say out of hte picture too long.
Tim, O' Tim, we hardly knew ye!

Just got back from vacation, and heard the Tim Cain departure news. I
agree with the previous posters in stating that I doubt we've heard the
last of Tim's CRPG-making career. Quite the contrary, I'm sure.

I haven't met or spoken to many people in this industry who seemed as
genuinely enthusiastic about RPGs and their potential as Tim. All the
best Tim, in your ongoing endeavours.
