Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get or download a copy of daggerfall? I cannot
find it in the shops, and as it is old I would rather not pay triple its
price to get it from overseas. Can I download it anywhere?
thx

Hi,

1. Have you never lurked this group? It is very unwise to ask for illegal
software here. You'll cause a thread that will continue for ages. If we are
really unlucky, Bateau will respond and all hell will break loose.
2. I too am from overseas (relative to the USA of course). I have never been
able to find Daggerfall either in the shops or on the net (just dead links).
EBay is not a very good option if you want the price to be approprtiate for
a buggy, ten year old game.

Well, good luck with all the replies.

actually i kinda sympathize with him. I live in north america and just
after a year of its release, daggerfall boxes became rare as hell. As it
is, no, daggerfall never was pirated, and piracy never really is the
reliable answer to these things.

Your best bet is definitely Ebay, its where i got my daggerfall from.
It's kinda rare, and i had to pay 30 dollars for it. Another option is
bethesda's webpage. Last I checked (about five years ago) they were
still selling back copies for the full 50 $ price.

Either way, good luck and happy hunting. Pass by alt.games.daggerfall if
you need some more help.

I found a copy anyway. To save the cries of 'warez!' I won't post the link
here, and it was on an abandonware site anyway. If you want the link email
me...

Ok I've played it for a bit, if someone took the time to upgrade the
graphics, or adjust the control system to fit with modern FPSs this game
would be brilliant. I can't stand the old style controls of turning instead
of strafing and limited look - so clunky it ruins a lot of the fun

Hmmm... rather liked it myself. And besides, they were customizable ;)

More importantly, I think the game needs better NPC interaction.

Buy it on e-bay. You will not pay triple its price, more like 3 times
less its original cost.

For several reasons they aren't the law enforcement.

1. The police will not investigate piracy, it's up to the companies to do
that. The police will only lay the charges.

2. The person requesting the link isn't actualy doing anything wrong. If
they were to download what they found at the link however, the person who
*supplied* the link could be charged with Aiding and Procuring.

I've been away from Usenet for a couple years, and I do remember Marcus :D
Some things never change. It was quite a year for this group, 1996.
Diablo "RPG or not", Daggerfraud :D, battlecruiser 2k ( was it the same
year?)

Anyways, the RPG I'm most anticipating is Morrowind.
According to Adrenaline Vault, WW8 comes out Nov 1 and Morrowind Nov 8.

The other RPGs I recognize are Arcanum and Pools of Radiance, both come out
in August.

from bethsoft:
"6.07.01
Wargamer awards Morrowind Best of Show - RPG
Wargamer tapped Morrowind in it's Best of Show awards for E3 in the category
of RPGs.
In addition, RPG Vault has posted a short summary based on seeing Morrowind
at E3."
http://rpgvault.ign.com/features/specials/e301morrowind.shtml

It seems they'll add the Construction Set and make very sure the game is not
buggy.
I hope they don't rush it out before it's ready just to get it out in time
for Christmas.

(Smile) Just FYI, the build they showcased at E3 was not the
most recent; it was several months old, as they are in the process of
upgrading the NetImmerse engine they liscenced. And adding DX8\GF3
type effects. So sharpen up that lack of wit, fella.

That's cool. I don't think your Sinclair would run it anyway.
And only an idiot would pay $50 for a clock face....

Oh. I forgot.

Take us a picture when it's done?

Hi Slink! Long time coming, hadn't it? Have you checked out
the screencaps at the site? And checked in the Morrowind Forums.
There's links to a lot of stuff that has come out about what we'll be
able to do with the Construction set (the latest stuff was about the
pathing and AI, or at least what they were willing to tell....)

I've already decided that my first to-be-released MW plugin
will be the haunted tomb of Lord Marcus. There's something about
burying certain beings in the middle of Bethesda's latest and probably
greatest, the way its looking, that just seems so......right. :D

Try $19.95 and still on the shelves at EB, Babbages, up until
about 8 months ago Best Buy.......

Hey, that's why you have a fetish for clock faces! DF reminds
you of the old Timex commercials. Takes a licking and keeps on

I eventually (patch no.121) played right through to the end of the
main quest in Daggerfall without problems, and enjoyed it immensely -
except perhaps for some of those pesky too big dungeons (where your
quest target was actually sitting at the third successive left turn
from the entrance!).

And there was still a lot of gameplay left in it - very good value.

Lets not allow money bags in suits to ruin perfectly good games
produced by real gamers just because they insist on premature releases
"because the market's right".
Good game - more! - more!
