I saw the King's ghost as well, in Daggerfall. I'm a high elf, but I
don't think that matters in DF. When you hear the ghost that bellows
"Vengeance", You'll know :P

Again, I can hear the ghost. His "vengeance" yell is quite impressive.
But he's invisible. All the monsters in all the towns are.

Are you saying you see no creatures at all? The ghosts and wraiths are
very difficult to see at all, but if your monitor is set dark I can
see you thinking they are not there. Also, the ghosts in town do tend
to let you kill them without much of a fight... they like to attack
from the side and behind. Now, if you never see any creatures, than
you do have a problem... but from your post its tough to tell.
BTW - I did read all your post, but you did not make yourself
quite clear on this, still is unclear...

While ghost are partily invisible, not all monsters in towns are invisibile.
I just attempted a quest that had we waiting in a town for a while. During
that time I had various rat, thief, rougs, etc attacking me. All could be
seen, provided there were close enough to me see them in the normal light.
One side note, while fighting one of the rats, I accidently hit the pickpocket
button, seconds after the fight was over I was surronded by guards, and had
to spend 6 nights in jail for pickpocketing.

Now this is odd. Everyone else can see the monsters in towns. I can't.
They are invisible, immobile, and helpless. I run into solid blocks in
broad daylight, and know I've found a monster. Blood spurts. But the
monster is invisible. And stationary. And they never attack me. It's
driving me crazy, b/c now it's started happening in dungeons, too.
Spoiler warning:
After I turned 7th level, the King of Worms sent a zombie messenger to me.
He too, was invisible, even though I was in a dungeon when I encountered
him. I could have very well never killed him b/c I didn't realize he was
there. Luckily, I bumped into him.
Oh, well. Maybe Bethesda will be able to recommend something.

Did you read my post? I can't see ANY monsters in town. And they can't
move. And they can't attack me.
: What happened
: to you was simple, the ghost or wraith paralyzed you from the side and

Now I know you didn't read the post before replying. I've never been hit
by a monster of any kind in town. I just run into a spot I can't move
through, and hear the monsters sounds. If I swing my sword, I can see a
spurt of blood, but the monsters never attack, and never move. They just
stand there until I kill them.
I think it's keeping my from completing quests. All the quest monsters
seem to be invisible, also. Imagine walking around a dungeon, looking for
a seemingly empty spot that spurts blood when you hit it. Whee!

Warning, I'm going to include a spoiler at the bottom.
For Pete's sake, here it is again:
In the dungeons, everything's fine. I see all the monsters, they move
around, the attack me. In the towns, I never see any monsters. Not just
the ghosts (which I see in the dungeons). If I get a quest to clear out a
house full of rats, I don't see the rats either. I just bump into a clear
spot that I can't pass. I can't see anything there. I see the floor. I
hear the rats, and I can't walk through them, but as far as the monitor is
concerned, there are no rats there. I can attack them, but they can't
attack me. When I hit them, I see blood spurting out of thin air.
Eventually, I get a message saying the rat just died.
This happens with every monster in every town. Rats, ghosts, barbarians,
you name it.
<SPOILER>The zombie sent by the King of Worms when I turn 7th level is
usually invisible, as well. I've got a game saved right before I turn 7th
level, and the zombie is invisible in towns & in dungeons. Just that
particular zombie. I still see all the other zombies in the dungeons.
On one occasion, however, I did see this particular zombie, it did move,
and it did attack me. And I was in a town. That's the only monster I've
seen in a town, but I've probably killed over a hundred invisible
ones.</SPOILER>
Weird, huh?
Mike
I ended up leaving Daggerfall and coming back later and for a bit that
seemed to fix the problem. But then I started hearing spell casting
and it was telling me that I was succesfully resisting spells. I
looked all over the place (was feeling neurotic) and couldn't see a
thing. I kept hearing the spell casting going on but couldn't find
the cause of it anywhere.
The problem did eventually clear but was quite annoying.
I have encountered a ton of bugs so far. I can't understand how some
of them got past the bug testers. Games crashed three times on me
when trying to talk to the king. I've fallen into bottomless black
pits where I could see parts of the dungeon floating in space. Killed
several skeletons without them seeming to notice or for some reason
they couldn't turn around to face me.
The patch better be at least 3 megs.

Groovy, anything cool come of it yet? I was a lycanthrope for a while, but
went back to an earlier save cause I didn't like it too much.

OK, I think Pine ate my first attempt to answer this, so I'll repeat it:
Basically, vampirism rocks. Huge boosts to your stats and skills (my
running skill is now 101%). You have to kill something every few days, or
you can't rest. And daylight and holy places are now certified bad
things. But, the new portrait on the character screen is awesome.

Becoming a vampire is easy. Just get attacked by vampires. Worked for me
the first time. Getting rid of it, not so easy.
Advantages: A Coors Field-like boost to my stats. Abilities skyrocket.
My character portrait looks cool. Five new spells (that I can't cast, no
spell points). Immunity to disease and paralysis.
Why would I ever want to get rid of this? At first, I didn't. Then, the
DA's struck -
You die outside in daylight. You die in temples. You have to kill people
(not really, I killed a rat once and it worked) every couple of days to be
able to rest. And after you've killed a few people, the vampire hunters
come after you. At first, they offer to help get a cure. So I said sure,
I'm tired of sneaking in and out of walled cities in the hour the gates
are open and it's still dark. Uh, oh. Guess what the cure is? Kill your
bloodfather, the chief head honch vampire in your area. Vampire Ancients
are no joke. So now, the vampires are after me for turning traitor, and
the vampire hunters are after me for draining innocent villagers.
Awesome!
