mmm yes, the system requirements will most likely be unreachable by most
computer owners...

I think in all honesty that once a game has been in development for so long,
such as Daikatana, that the technology you were using at the time is vastly
inferior to what is currently available, and you can try changing technologies
and effectively start development again, release the game and watch it tank
and die of embarresment or just jack the thing in. The other option of course
is to go on and on bashing your rival developers a lá Cleve to deflect
attention away from what will probably amount to a large pile of poo. In fact,
I have £20 on it not ever being released.
Okay, I may have been a bit optimistic at some points ...
It is SO CLOSE to going back to beta testing. My standards have been
so high for this game at every stage of its development, I have tried
to NEVER compromise on even the smallest detail until I got the
appearance and mechanics that I wanted. I might as well be one of
those monks in the middle ages who spent his adult life carving the
heads of pins with scripture. You will see shortly what I have wanted
from the beginning and how I have finally gotten it in the latest
revision of the interface ...
Check my site in the next 48 hours to see the latest screenshots of
the game at:
... and you will barely recognize the game it looks so beautiful.
Anybody who ever enjoyed any of the classics will see why this game is
going to be the best golden age RPG of all time.

Hm... checked your website. Your standard is very low, almost near the
bottom of Death Valley. The appearance isn't pretty. The mechanics look
prehistoric.

You are already a gym monk who spent your time on hitting your titanium
skull with dumbells.

Well, nothing surprising.

You mispelt the word "Stone age".
To your defense I might say that most prophets couldn't determine
their own future.

I like the "Excellence in game design - The evolution of Grimoire
from 1996 to 2002"-bit. ;-)

Looks like a hi-res EoB2 to me.
But of course - it'll blow P:T, Wiz8, Gothic and Morrowind right off
the planet. Right?

well, this is interesting - eob was one of my favourites - very good dm
clone! together with up-to-date graphics - why not?
since i started this thread, i might throw in some optimism here :)))

That's the nicest thing anybody has ever said about Grimoire. We can only hope so.

Definitely.
PS:T is a hard act to follow. For those who loved it on its merits,
"blowing it off the planet" for anyone who didn't have a very substantial
writing staff would be quite impossible.
By that standard, however, Morrowind is entirely without substance and
quite easy to "blow off the planet" if PS:T is your liptmus test.

Nah. His taking it literally is much funnier. ;-)))

I looked at your site. The first thing I noticed had me ROFLing.
"Our flagship project at the moment is the fantasy roleplaying adventure
Grimoire, planned for a release in both retail and shareware in the 1st
quarter of 2002."
Then I noticed you have a July 4, 2002 release date. Wow, that's only 17
short days!
And going up against NWN?! That's BALLSY!
I look forward to trying the shareware version, though.

I had a look at it. The screenshot looks like it could be from 1992.
There has to be a lot of extraordinary gameplay to make me put up with
that kind of look.
But Grimoire is vaporware anyway, and everyone know it. It'll never come
out.

By Murphy's Law, this means Grimoire will probably be released next week,
you realise.

I'll be content then, at least there will be a kind of end to the story.
It's been six years, and it's getting quite boring. But I think that
Cleve will not release it, if only to keep up the fiction that he's a
great game designer.
