Just recieved my UK copy this monring. I read in a FAQ somewhere that you
can have custom portraits (in .tga format). There is a portraits directory
in which I placed some pictures, but the program doesn't seem to pick them
up.
Does anyone know how custom portraits can be installed?

Mike

OK - I've figured it out. Sorry to bother you.

OK This is sort of how it works...
You need 5 files saved in .tga (targa format). These should have the
following sizes and filename suffixes.
????_H.tga 256 x 512 pixels
????_M.tga 128 x 256
????_M.tga 64 x 128
????_S.tga 32 x 64
????_T.tga 16 x 32

???? can be anything roughly meaningful as long as it's consistent.

However, I used Paintshop Pro (7.x) to convert .bmp files to .tga. This
allowed the portraits to be loaded but when I tried to save the program
crashed. In addition the portrait files were rewritten upside down. I don't
know whether this is PSP's or NWN's problem. I'll invesitage further. Other
.tga files that I've downloaded seem to work OK so I think it's a PSP
problem.

Regards

Mike

Took me forever to figure out how to do this, it's a lot harder than
it was in BG2 et al.

When you save the files in PSP, you need to make sure they're saved in
uncompressed format, which it doesn't do by default. Do a Save As,
but before you save click on options and make sure they're set to
24-bit and uncompressed. You'll have the problem you're describing
otherwise.

Anybody have any idea how to get those portraits to show up in the Toolset
portrait selection area? I have a dozen or so portraits showing up in the
single player creation screens, but in the Toolset, they just aren't
there...

thanks
